Hey everyone, just thought I'd show you the first of two characters inspired by Ranma 1/2 by Rumiko Takahashi.

They are... the male and female halves of Ranma Saotome.

I used Mack's template for these, plus a few of my own tweaks, but I designed them for VX.

However, there are XP versions available at the Enterra Resource Collective. (Yes, this is also a shameless plug.) The ERC is also looking for submissions from others. You should go check it out.

Anyway, on to the sets...

That's really cool, a couple of things though on the male version of Ranma:
First would be the little pony tail is really over anti-aliased and even into the background colour, I'd try to sharpen that up.
Secondly there's quite a bit of pillow shading going on here aswel.

That's due to the over anti-aliased there Fedora, I would guess that it was done in something like GIMP or Photoshop on a brush setting rather than a pencil one.

Guilty as charged. Photoshop. I'll fix it up tonight sometime and make a few tweaks to the original post. I've also been considering how best to go about creating some of the other Ranma 1/2 characters, since this is mostly a recolor/frankensprite. I'm a big fan of the taller charactersets, but Mack's is the only one I could find with a template and a bunch of hair/clothing/etc layers to go along with it.

You could always have a go at using my character set template, it's not dependant on lots of colours and I've tried to make it as user friendly as possible with the variation in skin tones and forms. The link to them is in my signature.

I would try and get a good set of reference material, google images is a good choice since there would be a lot available from the series. You could also try a site called Spriters Resource since there was a couple of Ranma 1/2 games made, it'll be useful to see what colours were used on them and some techniques on how to colour your sprites.
Here's the direct link to the Ranma 1/2 titles.
