I think it needs some flowers or grass or something where your character is standing, other than that it's a fine map. Just some eye candy, or to make it seem lees like a plain. Unless thats what you was going for. >_<

@MBT - How big can you actually get, that sounds like an interesting game mechanic. Are those tiles completely custom as well, don't think I've seen them before? If so very nice work!

You grow big enough that you have to watch out not stepping on cities and by the end you outgrow earth. It's really amazing sight when you have to dodge asteroids while wearing your "Good Girl" outfit. Speaking of outfits, the object of the game is to find the special clothings. The tilesets are custom but not of mine, they are purchasable resource from "Modern tileset" package.: thumbsup.gif

Your screenshot is very cool and has a SNES vibe which I think you are going for? The only thing I'd say is make the character maybe a bit lighter as he blends a bit too much, like a ninja that totally blends ph34r.gif into this sentence.

3.0 version of Child's Light is nearly done, have at thee a Gameplay screenie.

The door is already fixed but I don't know what you mean about the water though.

@MBT - I love steampunk! I'm curious as to how you're going to achieve the size increases within the maker??

Battle(WIP) faces will probably change.

Is this made with RPG Maker 2003? If so, I am curious to see your code (if you let me) via PM. I have been making a custom battle style, but some things I don't know how to work them out (plan the layout). Anyways, you should change the girl's face at least. I dislike her eye being behind the text.

Sorry that's a secret I cannot tell out of fear of someone copying my idea. thumbsup.gif

Your screenshot is fancy albeit the arrow kind of blends in a bit too much, is there any way to make it stand out some more? At first I thought it was part of the scenery. ph34r.gif

@MBT - Secret aye *Google finds nothing* O_o As for the arrow, it's not really an issue while playing.
@Zinx10 - It's not a CBS, just the DBS using the gauge battle layout.

Slight update. I had no idea what this Mami thing was people were mentioning but I figured it had something to do with the character set, so I've changed it as well as the faces. Turns out Mami is from an anime or manga. Seriously I had no idea, I don't watch/read the stuff, not really my thing.

Quick shout out to LWG for giving me the faces which I have edited. You might also notice the bars underneath the faces, they to have just been added but aren't functional properly just yet, limit break biggrin.gif

Oh and guys, which pose is better?

I say the current pose. Not only does it still look good, it looks very defensive. I say that, for it defends his body. Also, I can see it now, but I normally don't see DBSs that good-looking.

Of course it doesn't find anything, if it's my idea and it's not been done before, how could google read my mind? teehee.gif

I don't know what to say about your screen I've not said before but since I have to say something I'll say it's um, nice? For poses, go for right one unless he pokes people with the sword, the left is for poking, right is for slashing.

@MBT
The harp is rather big, compared to the table. I love the green wall auto tile. It's very crisp and clean mapping. Good job!
Here we have the beginning of mine and Shaddowval's new psychological Thriller. Lullaby. Below is a screenshot of one of the first houses in the game.
This house is home to a Paranormal Investigator, who has been hired to help investigate groups of children who appear to have slept themselves to death. The Screenshot is from the editor at the moment.

Have you ever seen harps? They are generally really tall and big. ph34r.gif

Also, the wall isn't actually green, that's just the lightning. thumbsup.gif

Your walls are really odd looking. Who on earth would make their walls made of protuding squares? Unless this house belongs to Peewee Herman, I'd say there's no way anyone would have walls like that. And the floor tiles look like it's made of multiple metallic girders placed against each other. And the carpet looks like it could give you a headache when you play the game. Why is there a flower bed inside the house? Why is there a shelf in front of the tv? If it's someone's house, why do they have a vending machine inside it? I am sorry, you really need to change them, they don't look good at all in fact it's kind of poor. You should also have some sort of an indicator at the bathroom to show where you can exit it. Now, it is far trickier than it should be when you're in there. Also I have to ask, how does the lights in those tables and sofas work? Do you like plug them into a power outlet or do they run on batteries?

Tau that's amazing but I think it looks a bit odd that you have the edges of the carpet at where the poles are, as in part of the carpet would go through the rails. I also think you should put clear space under the four side rooms walls because it looks very weird as it is now. I put red markers on spots to show what parts I think have problems.

I actually think the upper rugs on both sides sort of blend in, they look like they are for stairs. I like hte map, the only complaint I have is upstairs, the two tables on both sides seem odd becu=ause they are round towards the bottom and square at the top.

@mr big - I cant really see a map, the actors are in the way.

@Jonnie - Your map seems quite well thought out. The walls could be for keeping ghosts out, the plants are probly for some remedy or voo doo. the owner is a paranormal investigator. The pop machine is kinda odd, I now want a pop vender in my house...

That's kinda the point. The screenshot isn't about a map, it's about them and the dialogue. If I'd want to ask about map, I'd show just a map screenshot. unsure.gif

@Tau - nicely done map, reminds me of Final Fantasy 6 style for some reason. I think the only real flaw I'm seeing, is that you have no walls for your doors on the sides, which means it's kind of connecting roof to ground then back to roof and looks just a bit off.

I haven't made a map in a while so I thought I'd try my hand at it again, this is 100% parallax. There are no events on this, so you cannot see the door location. The shelves are barren intentionally, events will be added to them later as story develops. The only real thing I'm not 100% happy with is the stairs, I had to push them off to the side slightly to make things fit correctly with walking paths, but I could not adjust the railings as well without covering up walking space or making them look strange. Anyway, please judge.

Seriously, what's with the black protuding squares used as wall? This is the second time I see someone use them and it didn't look good the first time. Honestly, the two sections look more like someone took and placed two screenshots together, they don't fit together at all and they're not consistent. (Where's the light bulbs on the beds and stools on the leftside?) There's also a lot of totally empty space. And that red carpet is pretty hideous looking and the placement of it is very weird. There's no consistency, it seems some are made of old fantasy era stools, some more modern and some are like futuristic miliatry base or something. You should also tone down the whiteness of the upper left shelves as they're too bright.

Visiting your parents at the jail. Making mom's solitary cell was one of the more trickier things I've had to do in terms of mapping and it consists of multiple layers, which is made all the more hard since the cell changes near end game.

@Mr Big T - Your map is pretty, solid, but also kind of bland. I realize it is a prison, but why is every cell pretty much identical? I know there are a limited number of tiles you can use, but it just feels....boring? I'm not even really sure how to describe it. I think it could use a touch more flavor to it.

I made some adjustments to my map, to make it blend better. I still need to add lights to it, as I forgot those, but I can do that with events too. I don't know what you meant about stools on the left side or light bulbs on the bed though, Mr Big T, so I can't comment on that, these are pre-made tiles from enterbrain and they are actually all part of the same set.

The reason the room on the right looks different is because it's a lab, and the interior of the walls is covered in a special material. That, of course, is all explained in game. The white shelves do look very bright, but once things start to become unlocked and they are covered with trophies and rewards, they will look a lot better. There is a reason there is so much emptiness in this room, starting out.

Updated to look better.
