Hello! A friend and I are currently working on a game, and a feature we'd like to add is a custom message box that displays when you receive an item. Here's a mock-up of something that we're trying to get, made in MSPaint:

Obviously, the message would be more centered in the screen. However, we don't know how to do this! Ranchinggal has been trying it out for quite some time and can't get it to work. I know an event similar to this is possible, as I've seen it appear in another RPGMaker 2003 game I've played, but we can't seem to reproduce the effect! We're at a loss, does anyone have any advice? Thank you very much!

The easiest method that I can think of at the moment would be to mess with the message display options to make the messages show up in the middle without the box, show a picture for the box replacement, and then for the picture of an item, just use another show picture (picture 2 since picture 1 is the textbox's pic) with the picture of the item set to appear at the coordinates of where the text box is.
I'm not sure exactly if this works exactly since I'd have to test it, but I'm pretty sure that you can just have the text show up lower by pressing enter two or three times (though you only have the space of 4 lines to work with.)
Either that, or you can show a different textbox pic with a neat little area for item pics to be placed.

Another method for showing text that would be handy just in case you want to have the text box to be in more than just the top, middle, or bottom of the screen would be to have the letters either be events (an event for each letter on screen! and they get obscured by the picture) or pictures. (might be tough setting up the coords for all the pics and you might run out of pictures. Though you can have some pics that show entire words which can be good for important names, commonly used words, and other stuff like that.)

Hopefully I explained the basics of a couple options well enough. Feel free to ask for clarification.
