Avatar: Legend of the Mercenaries [RP Topic], Better late than never~~! Options

Water.

Earth.

Fire.

Air.

Most of our elders can all tell us stories, told to them by their elders, about a time of peace, where the Avatar kept balance between the water tribes, earth kingdom, fire nation and the air nomads. But that all changed when the Avatar died. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements, only he could keep the four nations in balance, but when everyone least expected it, he was killed. Hundreds of years have passed and ever since the death of the Avatar, all of the lands have been preparing themselves for war, except for the air nomads, who insist on mantaining their peaceful and neutral nature towards the conflict. Five years ago, a huge turmoil within the Fire Nation caused it to be divided in two, those that supported the war, among them the Fire Lord himself, and those that opposed it, who were then branded as rebels and cast out from their homeland, their people who divided, most thought that the Fire Nation would be stepping down from the war...

But then the fire nation attacked, several units were spotted moving out of the Fire Nation, their destiny, the East Air Temple. Seeing as the Air Nomads had no way to defend themselves on their own and the Water tribes and Earth Kingdoms were not yet ready for battle, they both pooled resources to hire a huge mercenary unit that would fight off the firebenders until reinforcements arrive. Some people still believe that the Avatar is yet to be reborn amongst the Air Nomads, but given the circumstances, if we don't stop the fire nation now, there will be no new air nomads to be born soon.

A loud yawn, followed by some shuffling. Kyung Li lifted herself off the bed where she had been resting and then went to stretch, of course, she forgot about a few space restrictions, and let out a loud 'ow', followed by an annoyed grunt, after she hit her head against the other bed on top of hers. She sighed some, rubbing the top of her head a bit. Glancing around, the swinging of the beds, and of the whole room itself, helped her remind her of where she was right now. A huge ship, courtesy of the Earth Kingdom, which was currently taking all of the mercenaries hired by them to the East Air Temple. Most of the beds were empty now, as it was high in the morning and they probably were ready to set off...Wait...What time was it?

As the realization hit her, Kyung practically flumped herself off the bed, grabbing all of her things and starting to get ready to disembark. Since she had slept with the clothes she was already going to use, all she needed to take out was her long green cloak, she shook it around and dusted it off a bit, trying to straighted it a bit after it was kept in the bag for so long. Once that was out of the way, she quickly put the cape around herself, hiding her lack of one arm. It was bad enough they were all probably being sent in a suicide mission, she didn't want to hear comments about how they had "disabled" warriors in there with them, as if the fact they had some firebenders amongst them wasn't bad enough.

She finished getting ready and then quickly tripped her way upstairs, her bag hanging over her arm. As soon as she got out, she was able to see the East Air Temple, standing proudly and high in the clouds, amidst the mountains. She looked up at it with genuine interest, never having the chance to actually do much touring around before, this was actually the first time she had left the Earth Kingdom. She rested her right arm, her only arm, against the edge of the ship, and stood there, glancing towards her destiny.

It won't be easy, you realize...

Kamen didn't enjoy his trip. He had travelled alone, and single-handedly had to deal with a small bandit group. I wasn't a problem of course - they got the jump on him with their ambush, and yet Kamen was still able to lose them. When they gave up their search, he then got the jump on them. It was impressive to say the least, though Kamen was able to confirm that nobody was alive to witness it. His legs ached and his breath was slowly drawing thin. He was nearly forty, after all. Despite his age he still endured as he was far from frail, and soon, would have the chance to prove this.

When he finally arrived at the port where his mission would commence, Kamen let out a long and heavy sigh. It was a relief to finally stop walking after days of non-stop travelling. The ship bobbed to and fro, mostly empty. He spotted only a single woman, who was resting against the barricade. May as well introduce myself, he thought. He made his way over to her, and cleared his throat to get her attention.
"You're one of the other Mercanaries, I take it? It's an honour, my name's Kamen." He decided against revealing where he came from. "Are we here early, or something?"

Kyung snapped out of her thoughts as she heard the sound coming from behind her, she twisted her body around to face Kamen, she greeted him with a smile. "Howdy! Name's Kyung Li, of the Earth Kingdom." She glanced around a bit after his question and shrugged some. "I dunno...I arrived at the boat pretty late and just went to bed pretty much immediately after that." She'd confess, sheepishly, before pointing to the mountains that were now miles away of sea behind her. "At any rate, the ship will probably be departing soon-ish to arrive in that there Air temple, so I sure hope everyone gets here in time. Already bad enough being sent to fight off an army, after all." She'd stated, sighing some and scratching the back of her head.

"Even we can't be sure of how risky this will be..."

Kamen's eyes glanced briefly at the left arm of the woman, Kyung Li, or rather the cloak that covered it. She hid it, and favoured her right hand for all of her gestures; rested on the barricade with it, pointed to the mountains with it and scratched her head with it. Was she missing her left arm, or was it perhaps unusable? He was curious, but dared not ask about it. He didn't want to be impolite after all, plus he could be wrongly overthinking it... maybe this was just the new fashion?
"I see," he began. "Well I'm looking forward to this, honestly. Getting the chance to fight off an army will make for a nice change of pace. For the last ten years or so, the most I've gotten to face have been bandits." He leaned his back against the side of the ship and looked up at the sky, eyes closed. "Since we'll be allies, we need to have at least some trust between eachother. So you should know that I... I am from the Fire Nation." He looked at her. "But don't fret; I'm not like the rest of those scumbags. They're butchers and marauders, and I'll have no regret for having to spill some of their blood."

Rima walked up the steps onto the deck. She was pulling her cloak over her burns as she heard someone say they were form the fire nation. She looked at him curiously and smiled. "As am I, But don't be alarmed. My name is Rima." She said holding her hand out. "This should be fun eh?" She looked at the sights in front of her quietly. She could feel a knot building in her throat. She was scared. But did she show it? No, but people probably noticed.

Kyung let out a short 'eh' after hearing Kamen was from the Fire Nation...And then another one, slightly louder, after hearing the same thing from another person. The earthbender dropped her head a bit. "What the heck...? Am I the only person in the ship that ain't a Fire Rebel?" She questioned, pouting a bit and letting out a short sigh. She then shrugged some. "Eh...Whatever..." She then turned to Rima. "Name's Kyung Li, by the way, nice to meet'cha." Kyung would state, lifting up her right hand and giving a thumbs up.

The girl then seemed to go completely quiet for a second before a movement made her let out a short 'huh'. It was the boat starting to move, it finally unanchored from the port and was now readying itself up to head to the Eastern Air Temple. Kyung nodded some. "Well, I reckon it was about time this thing got moving..." She'd state before glancing around the ship, besides the three of them, a handful of other mercenaries now populated and wandered around the ship. "...You know, i'd expect them to have gotten more people, considering the forces we're gonna be holding off."

A soft breeze rustled through the grassy hill where Kuai lay asleep. The touch of the air against his skin was enough to get his eyes to flutter open. Sitting upright, Kuai was just in time to hear the boat blow it's horn, his cue to hurry on up. As swift as the wind itself, he sprinted down towards the docks.
By the time he had reached the dock boat had moved several meters away from the platform. That didn't stop Kuai. Onlookers watched in awe as he leapt across the gap. He glided through the air, almost as if in slow motion before gracefully landing down of the deck with precision and grace any professional long-jumper would envy.
Kuai was met with stares of suprise and even apprehension. Knowing this situation might look bad of him, Kuai decided to speek up.
"Sorry if I startled you all," he apologized. "Just running a little late."

"Then again, better you than anybody else..."

Kamen took the girl, Rima's, hand and shook it. She too was from the Fire Nation... how interesting. It would likely be insignificant though, after all, Kamen was hardly the first deserter, nor would he be the last. She seemed to have a similar trail of thought as Kamen did; she was excited about the voyage, expecting it to be 'fun'. In truth, fun was a ridiculous thing to anticipate from this kind of mission, but at least she had something pure to drive her.

Kamen noticed Kyung's habit again; she once more used her right hand, this time to give a thumbs up to Rima. He could no longer refrain from enquiring about it, lest it have some effect on the mission's progress. Before he could question it though, some idiot found himself leaping from the the dock platform to the ship. He was late, and decided to make a flashy entrance. Kamen suspected he was little more than a shell, lacking any substance. He would probably die first. Just a punk, it would seem...
"I must ask, for the sake of our lives and yours... is there a particular reason you hide and choose to completely neglect your left arm? If there is, I feel we deserve to know of it."

Kyung just chuckled in a lively manner as response towards Kuai's entrance. "No problem-o, bud! The more people aboard, the merrier!" She'd state, smiling cheerfuly. And then Kamen hit her with that question. The Earth Bender let out a short 'oh', glancing away a bit. "Ah...Yeah...Heheh...I'm a bit too expressive for my own good, ain't I?" She questioned, forcing a laugh. "I uh...Don't..." She suddenly pointed out towards Kuai. "Hey! I almost forgot to introduce myself to the new guy!" She stated, walking towards him and completely dodging away Kamen's question. She'd stretch out her hand towards Kuai. "Hey there! Welcome aboard. Name's Kyung Li, of the Earth Kingdom. What's your name, mister?"

Rima looked at Kyung curiously. "I wonder why she ignored your question." Rima said when Kyung traveled away some. Rima looked at the guy who leaped onto the boat. "Seems kinda like a show off, doesn't he?" She said with a small giggle. "Hopefully that doesn't get in the way of our fighteing, eh?"

[Ryuga]

Kuai was rather surprised to be greeted in such a manner by the earth bender. He more or less expected the apprehensive looks, and even some of the eyerolls the older guy was giving him. But this, this one was a first.
“Name’s Kuai,” he answered. ”Come on now. Why so friendly?” the paranoid side of his brain thought as he walked up to greet the lady. He put on a friendly smile to mask his suspicions. "Nice to meet you Miss Li."

Kyung smiled some as she finished the handshake and then pulled her hand back to hide below her cloak. This time intending to be more careful not to seem as expressive with her hands as she was being before. "Nice to meet'cha as well. Sorry if I may seem a bit too outgoing but, heck, if we're all gonna be fighting together, I figure we all ought to know each other, huh?" The earth bender was quiet for a moment before she then questioned. "So...By that little stunt of yours earlier, i'm guessing you're a bender too, eh?" She'd state, trying to hold up conversation with Kuai, afraid that Kamen would come and question her about the arm again if she seemed free for a mere second.

[Ryuga]

Kuai released Kyung's hand now that the greeting was over. His face returned to his regular blank expression. He couldn't hold the smiling face for long.
"Earth bender huh?" he replied before answering. "Yeah, I'm a bender." An awkward silence fell upon the conversation. It was obvious Kyung wanted to know what kind of bender Kuai was, and Kuai was hesitant to share that information. "Alright then..." Kuai began. "I'll let you know, so long as you don't ask any more questions after that. I'm an Airbender."

[Nicsp]

Kyung just stared at Kuai during the awkard silence, nervously smiling a bit before Kuai actually answered the question. She nodded some, forcing a chuckle before she then stated. "Well uhh...All right then, if you insist." She would then glance off behind her and see the Eastern Air Temple, growing progressively bigger in her view as the boat slowly approached it. And well, considering she couldn't really ask any more questions to Kuai as he was pretty much brushing her off and Kamen and Rima would probably ask her about her arm again...She ended up just deciding to slip her way out of there, heading back to the lower compartments of the ship.

Rima went to the edge of the ship and looked at the view. It was absolutely beautiful. She looked around at all the people on the ship. Some with nervous faces, some with blank ones. How could no one here be even a little scared about possible death or injury? She turned around and took a deep sigh. She needed to clear her head some, it was foggy. So she went down to the bottom of the ship where Kyung was. Ironically Kyung and her had been in the same sleeping quarters. She sat down next to her pallet and took out her sketchbook. She lightly sketched the view that she see just a few moments earlier. " So...Kyung....Tell me about yourself" She said smiling.

Kyung had been trying to make herself look busy, messing with some of her luggage and what not. While she wasted time away, she anxiously hoped the ship would arrive at the Eastern Air Temple already...Before- Kyung jumped slightly upon hearing Rima's voice, the earth bender turned around slightly, forcing a lively chuckle. "Ah...Uhm...Not really much to tell about. Tried to join the Dai Li, failed miserably, ended up a mercenary, it's simple, really." She'd state, smiling some, despite her words, she was quiet for a bit, apparently trying to think of what to say herself, her eyes dodged around a bit, scanning the area as she thought. "...You?" She finally shot back, not sure of what else to say.

Meanwhile, the ship was finally starting to arrive and dock at the Eastern Air Temple, some few monks were stationed by the dock, patiently waiting for the boat's arrival and helping the sailors dock the ship. Tightening up ropes and such, meanwhile, the whole ship was getting a lot livelier as all of the people started grabbing their things, bags, packs and that sort of equipment, mounting them on their backs and getting ready to disembark the ship.

Kuai looked on as the Eastern Air temple grew larger in view.
"This place brings back memories," he thought to himself as he leaned on deck. "Wander if anyone would recognize me? If they did wander what they would think? Probably nothing pleasant." Kuai chuckled at the thought.
It had been forever since he had visited the place he once called home. Circumstances prevented him from ever coming back. But, now that he had some sort of excuse, he really couldn't say he wasn't the slightest bit happy to see it again.
"So long as no one causes any trouble," he muttered to himself as he grabbed his things.

Rima felt the ship come to a slow halt at the docks. " We'll talk later." she said grabbing her stuff and leaving. She went to the deck and saw people getting off the ship. Rima tied her cloak nice and tight and left the ship along with so many other soldiers/mercenaries. This ought to be fun... she thought. Rima was so caught up with getting her things and such that when she went to get off the ship she slipped and fell into the water. Along with all of her things and sketches. "Damnit...." she yelled. People were staring at her. She stayed quiet, got her things and went on to land. "Ill just..Dry myself off..." she said using some of her bending. She used her fire bending to dry off her clothes and most of the things she had with her.

Kyung just stood there with a smile forcefully plastered on her face as the girl she was talking to just basically ditched her right there, after Rima left, Kyung dropped her head to the side a bit. "...That was rude..." She'd say out to herself before grabbing her things and starting to head outside as well. She'd see Rima's little scene and couldn't be able to help but chuckle a bit in response, though she covered her mouth a bit, to keep it from being loud. One way or another, once all of the mercenaries were out of the ship, the leaders separated everyone into groups, as fate would have it, Rima, Kyung, Kuai and Kamen ended up on the same group. The groups were all going to be headed to different parts of the air temple, simply to keep watch, at the moment. Once the fire nation attacked, the group would then send a signal, warning the other mercenaries to come and help. Not exactly the most complex of plans, true, but it would probably do for the time being.

As luck would have it, the local generals were all of the Earth Kingdom and were all assigning Earth Kingdom people to lead the groups. Since Kyung was the only Earth Kingdom member in that group, she ended up being picked, she pointed at herself confusedly after being assigned. "Wh-...? Me?" The mercenary general squinted his eyes annoyedly. "Yes, you. Lead your group to the southern tower and send a signal if you see anything. If someone else sends a signal first, mobilize your group towards it. Remember to send the damn signal, don't you dare trying to fight off alone." Kyung nodded, saluting some. "Sir, yes sir!"

The general walked off to speak with the other groups, Kyung nervously shifted her body around to face the small group, she chuckled some. "...Well uhh..Let's get going then, I guess..." She stated meekly.
