The year is 618 AD and the empire is a shadow of its former self, forced to rely heavily on auxiliary troops from nearby tribes. We follow Havoc, a young auxiliary officer in the service of Rome as he fights the empires enemies in the east and faces the darkness beyond. Havoc must travel far in his service to rome, from the beautiful capital of Constantinople, to the deserts of Egypt and more. The gameplay will have a series of missions for you to complete in your service to the Empire. Like real life and in games you will see the birth of a monster through war, and that soldiers are neither good nor evil.

Charaters:
Havoc = main char, Officer of the Empire, uses fists and claw weapons, has a love for violence.


Julia = A young Egyptian girl that becomes a soldier though tragedy, uses daggers.


Bruten = A veteran Soldier of the 12th legion.

Scripts are, the basic sprite sideview battle system, commercial game script , custom status screen.

Special thanks to Exiburs, Oceans Dream, Holder for graphics. Atoa, Alwayz confused for scripts, Shizu for music, and Danielle Mcrae for voiceovers.


Currently I am doing the last bit of bug testing and hope to have Kingdom done in a few weeks.

Hm well how do i take a screen of my game? oh and I put up my last demo i had no screens, of it less info and the game wasnt even half as long as this one and people still played it and sent me info, and that was when RRR actually had a database of games to download, not the 1/3 it has now so i think i did better than last time, buti will add screens when someone tells me how ty

Run the game and when you want to take a screen press the "print screen" button (its above insert & next to F12) then open paint press crtl+v and save as a .jpg

Then upload to a photosharing website like flickr or photobucket and use the url to post the screen here :-D

Yes I know about the print screen button, but it not work for some reason, oh well, all im really looking for is a few people that know XP real well to play it and tell me what they think of it and what bugs, if any they find, same as last time happy.gif

If Print Screen doesn't work, try Alt + Print Screen, and paste into Paint. If that still doesn't work, look for a key that says [Fn. Hit [Fn]+Prt Scrn.

Ok so I tried your demo and I have to be honest with you. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

Don't get me wrong, the game has A LOT of potential, the music is good and fitting, the battles were balanced and enjoyable, I really felt like a bad ass controlling Havoc. The story seems to have quite a bit of potential, but now here is the reasons I couldn't finish.

The spelling and grammar are...bad. Try getting Microsoft Word or another program that has a spell check and double check your spelling, that's what I do, because I tend to not think when I type and I miss quite a few words.

The Blood Change skill is broken, once the battle ends your character's sprite vanishes.

The party change system needs to be changed, you can add and remove people you haven't even met yet.

The status screen doesn't show anything, probably want to look into that.

Your transfer events. I've noticed that on some you just step on them and you go, others you have to push a button or find just the right spot, this is frustrating to the player, not to mention the lack of fading from one screen to the next looks jerky and unnatural. This would be ok if it was the same type of map, but when you go from a fancy happy castle to a war torn city with darkness and rain and there is no transition...it's just not pretty.

These are the kind of things you really should have noticed by testing the game yourself before throwing out a demo, but I'm sure if you go back and fix this, the game will be awesome! Best of luck!

AWWW finally some feedback ty tongue.gif , ok i fixed the problem with the bloodchange skill, somehow the actor pic got wiped from the event, which also fixs the disapearing thing after battle, as far as the spelling goes...yeah that my fault lol, didnt know i was that bad but ill fix that on the FINAL version of kingdom, i really wish you had played thro the rest of the demo to see if there was anything wrong with it but kinda hard when you cant see your own char hun lol, ok im gonna redo the link and ty for feedback!

Your new link doesn't work.

I went back and played through more of the demo and I have a few more suggestions.

First; Why? I don't know why the character is doing anything he is aside from him being told too, he seems completely devoid of personality or reason for existing, you might want to update that. Also I love the names...but they don't inspire me to feel like I'm playing a real person, more like I'm playing a comic book super hero, you might want to give them some real names instead of titles or nicknames.

Secondly, your abbreviations, not everyone knows what all those terms are, you may want to spell out sergeant and such so other players know what you mean.

A few event issues; some of your events just...vanish or don't jump well. The first event where you kill the soldiers and he goes flying off...very nicely done. The event with Brute where he talks to you in the throne room and just vanishes? wtf happened? he's a mage! I'd recommend maybe making him walk to the end of the screen before you make him vanish, just looks smoother.

If I notice anything else I'll be sure to post again.

Dude that's funny... I mean this game needs way soo much improvement, however I did see quite the potential and originality here. I couldn't understand much of the story, because the game was straight up scenes after scene and I got lost, and confused as if certain parts of the game where flashbacks of the story of havok, or if that was the actual present time... Also there were some bugs, and many words mistyped. I mean this is okay, considering this is the first time you are creating a game, stuff like that happens all the time... like I said, in future versions you just fix those things, and add a lot more of freedom when it comes to traveling... for example, instead of bringing the characters from one place to another, just make the player have to go to those places... if you know what I mean. Despite all these things, I actually enjoyed this game, and the music was well selected, I liked the tunes used in the battles haha. It gives the player a break from those cheesy RTP and final fantasy tunes, which honestly, everyone's sick of them.

Ok sry but it took me like 2 hours to redo the link ok try it now i fixed the bugs i said earlyer, im still waiting on a reply in the fourms for the party switcher script, so everything should work fine now, so try it and tell me what you think people.

I finished the demo with your new update and here is some more improvements that I've found.

first off, why is there blood change? you don't really explain why it's there or what it does except that you look different and you get healed. Secondly, shouldn't it remove after the battle?

I really started to feel like this was a rail shooter and not an rpg, after you save julia you lose all control of the game, you don't get to move you don't get to pause you control them completely and just jump from one battle to the next, it doesn't make any sense. You give them the claws and the armor from beating general leo, but no chance to equip them. You really need to give your players more freedom, like...any freedom at all.

I love the story it has a lot of potential, but it makes 0 sense, I have no idea what's going on or why, all I figured out is that two places are at war and your guy is a real jerk. He goes to talk to Anna about her brother and suddenly two seconds later they are getting married...he has to be at the 13th camp, but he stops for 6 months and trains julia randomly...also for six months of training you could give her a few levels. tongue.gif

Your game has quite a bit of potential, you just seem to be suffocating it with all your control, you need to remember just because you know what's going to happen and why in your head doesn't mean the player is going to, you really need to give them a chance to figure things out and explore some, all your well designed maps are going to waste with the tight reigns you have on the control.

Lastly, your characters are very very shallow, I have no reason why anyone does anything or who they are. The character you give the most detail too is killed a few seconds after you get him...you need to take some time, figure out who these people are and put that into the gameplay.

I really want to like this game, but you have quite a long way to go before I can, if you keep updating it I'll keep playing the demos and give you any advice I can. If you need help doing any of the things that I suggested feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to help.

Aw ty for your review anti, im glad you like it for the most part, ive already started work on the full game now, i think people keep forgeting this is a DEMO, but thats ok ive gotten great feedback, more info and freedom will be shown on the full release of Kingdom, the demo is just to give people an idea and show people that i actually do somthing on RRR haha.

haha no problem. And yeah, for the most part I see potential, and mostly the originality influences I take it that you got them from the type of work that you do (the army) which actually helped a lot in the details and how some of the squads are developed and stuff. I have a question about the battle system... is that going to be the battle for the game or do you have that temporarilly and want to get something side-view or different? cause there are many out there that can result pretty well for this game.

Charlie Lee's is a good one considering that you can combat a lot of monsters at the same time that you can use a lot of players in each battle... If you still plan to keep the battle that you have, then I would suggest using more mature battlers for the main characters... for example, naramura's battlers. If you haven't heard of them, let me know and I'll pm you the link.

Well im glad you asked Anti, let me give you an update on what im doing. Frist of all yes your right alot of my game comes from my exp in the army infantry, i get inspired by it, even some of the battles have a touch of real world to them. Kingdoms story is its main strength, and will make it stand out from other games, I have a small team working on it now, which will make it even better. As for the battles system of course i didnt want to use the boring default one, so i used the cogwheel, and untill we get a staff member in Kingdom thats good with scripts we will still with the cogwheel, I like the mirk battle system but its a bit tricky and im working on Kingdom alot now, so when we get someone that knows it well then we will have a dif battle system, and as for the current battlers your right they do need to go, im going to be redrawing them myself and adding them to the game which will make them fit the story much better. I have great plans for Kingdom And as my team grows it looks like its going to be even better than I had hoped, Ty for the questions happy to share more.

Mirk's battle system? I looked it around and can't find it. If you can let me know so I can have an idea. Also I didn't knew that you actually had people working for you in this game, or contributors per say... that's nice, hopefully things will get done the best way. Also don't forget to use different tunes, like in the battles it's fine and some of the scenes, but let's say if you want to use mp3s, it's best to just be mp3s only... for the fact that if you put a midi and then an mp3 things might sound out of place, in terms of quality... also when the battle ends, it's best if the victory theme isn't based off the RMXP RTP. If you need help with the mp3s selection, size and quality, as well variety... I can help with that.

Hm i meant miok battle system, its in the fourms, the one that most of the games that have a staff use. After the demo was put out and i got your review of my game i started a team to improve Kingdom. As for the music of Kingdom that needs some adding to so yes id like some info about that. But as of now my staff is working full time on Kingdom so I think its going to be right up there with the best games put out here, my goal is to have it compared to Dark Eternal, but I know thats a big goal and will take some time and a few more staff members.
