No patcher. Modern Slot-1 cards such as the R4 (Outdated Crap, get an M3 DS Real, Acekard 2, or Cyclo DS) have auto-patching.
Some of the firmwares will only run a homebrew if it's under a certain size- This may not work on the newer current cards.
