@ Pole Picture

Holder, I think one area you should work on is shading in general. Sometimes your shading seems to come off as sloppy and your hightlight come off as dull. Not only that, I think you should work on how you shade. Some of it looks pillowshaded. Othertimes, the highlights seem generic. Highlights especially should differentiate between materials.

Another thing I would would work on is color scheme. I think with a bit more contrast especially in shadows, it would do more good than harm. This win combination with shading makes the picture almost seem like clay in a sense.

I would also work on the form of a few things. The hair seems lifeless and flat, making it look generic in a sense. The same things apply with the tail. I would try adding more realism in a sense.

I agree, I think your work would really benefit from pushing your colors and contrast. I see a lot of improvement in anatomy and the like going from your older pieces to the newest, but the shading is still very muddy and flat. This is by far the best shading tutorial I've ever read, and I think it could help you quite a bit as well. It's extremely in-depth and shows you how light and shadows work the way they do, and how to apply it to your art.

Brilliant thanks for all of that information and also that link, I'll get the line arts done for each character keeping in mind what's been suggested. I'll keep the colouring section progressive so I can upload it now and then to see if and when I start to go wrong with it.

Hopefully I've managed to correct a few things with this piece.
There's no background, though I think the final group shot will have something significant in there.

Great job with this one. ^^

I'm curious as to why there is only one wing. Is that part of the character's uniqueness? It's actually kind of a cool idea. =]

The face, eyes, ear, etc., are simply fantastic - well done. =D

@XMO - Yeah Shukaur is designed to be half dragon and I opted for the non-conventional method, so instead of being split across the middle she's slip down the centre.

@mila - happy.gif Thanks but I kinda like them, and personally it still takes me a long time to do these things. I'm still learning and it's mainly due to peoples C&C as to how I develop.

I would like to mention that you've been doing much better with the fingers recently, but on the right hand she looks as though it is really stiff.
I'm just not seeing a natural feel to the way her right hand looks, however the left hand's fingers look perfect. =]
Just thought I'd mention. I think that it is the thumb that makes it appear more "block-like" and less natural. Just the end of it doesn't curve as I would expect it to.
If I could make a suggestion, I would say that it could be a little more "relaxed". I know that if I stick my thumb out that far, it stretches and hurts a bit.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is that it should relax alongside the index finger a little bit more, or it could relax against her body a little bit more.

Hope that was somewhat helpful information, lol. ^^

Perfect thanks smile.gif Things like this I tend not to really notice, I'm working on the next character and I think I've done something very similar now that I look at it and try the same hand position.

biggrin.gif Thanks for the mention within your signature by the way.

It's awesome (as usual)! =D

(Yumme seems to be missing the indentation for her navel, just thought I'd mention that considering that the outfit appears to be tight enough to show it.)

Another great piece, I've been waiting to see the full version of the Yumme you've got in your avatar and now there it is; fantastic work! ^^

Okay two more pictures, first was something I drafted earlier this evening and added the black to keep it on Photobucket:
Shukaur resting: Will finish for you later MR.HB wink.gif

Then in IRC just a little while ago I had an idea, Wall-E reference:

Really quick mock up (30 min) IRC timed laugh.gif

Superb!
I think you are qualified to add any sort of brilliance to your art when you can create comedy like that. =P

I personally think that the bra suits the eyes better.
It makes a real statement.

Seriously though, Holder, your art is pretty good. biggrin.gif
Your characters look really unique. smile.gif

Okay my DL topic was going a bit off topic. So some modern animated battlers by adapting the gud'old 2k3 characters:
Started with this one:

Tweaking and altering quite a bit because on second glance it looked too smooth and not battler-like.

Preferred one?

I'm not using any template for these I just got my tablet and went mad tongue.gif

Okay preference for the colours of the first and pose of the second:

Okay bumping this with an animation of the first four frames of the idle pose for crits smile.gif
From the IRC they liked the colours from the first one and the pose-shape of the second, hence me making a third in the middle which is a mixture of those things.
Gave her a sword and shield since that's the usual set-up for a Heroine in 2k3:

Thoughts?
