Alrighty, after about a 2-day procrastination period, I got around to whipping up a couple new logos to experiment with the new fonts I got.

The Shinora Chronicles 2: The Perfect Light V1

The Shinora Chronicles 2: The Perfect Light V2

I'd like to know which version you guys like better, any mistakes/etc., or things that can be improved, thanks. happy.gif

I think a marriage of the two would look nice.

I love "The Shinora Chronicles 2" using the rainbow colours and "The Perfect Light" being in different colours, but that's just a preference.

I would, however recommend that you use the style on the first image for the text "The Perfect Light" versus the second image's style for those same words (the second one is more difficult to read).

Maybe make the shadow on the second image's text a little stronger (only for "The Shinora Chronicles 2" part; similar to the strength of the shadow on the first image of the same words).

It's very colourful! =D

I think it looks great, but I also think you should come up with some more experiments to see what else you can do with it. happy.gif
Messing around in Photoshop really does help you with ideas and such over time, just grab those tools and try out new things!
If you grab one that you don't know how to use, let me know and I can give you some tips. =]

Nice job! thumbsup.gif

Thanks, X-M-O. smile.gif
Ironically, before I read your reply, I actually took the logo into GIMP and applied a supernova effect after colorizing it. I think the "The Perfect Light" part is harder to read now because of it, however I also believe it conveys the theme better.

What do you think?

It might convey the theme better, but it still needs to be readable.
I'd recommend taking some of that golden shadow colour from the upper text and applying it as a 1-pixel outside Stroke on the bottom text. =]
Or you could just put it on a black (or any dark) background. =D

It looks cool though, the effect. ^^

Yes, readability seems to be a somewhat consistent problem for me. I agree completely though, it has to do more than fit the theme. I'll probably go for more color schemes and see which ones I like best and such. Also, in GIMP I'm not sure if it has that stroke effect, I'd have to do a lot of poking around with the tools and whatnot.

EDIT: I redid the normal Shinora Chronicles logo and added a nifty background design. If I recall correctly, the person's dA username was Oceanist.

Tell me what you think. Yes? No? Different color scheme? I really want to make this look the best it can be. happy.gif

EDIT 2: I did another one, different color scheme, different wing design (by the same person)

I think the color scheme is better on this one, but that's just me. I'll let you all decide.
Probably should have realized the wing cut-off on the second one is a problem if I intend on using it on the title screen...Well, if need be, I'll remake it. (I saved the gradients I used this time!)

EDIT 3: Alright, I re-did the second one, this time the wing thingy is in full view.

Tell me what you think. smile.gif

EDIT 4: Story prologue removed due to the new notice thingy.

~RionTarokai

P.S: Totally made the story up as I went along, too. smile.gif

Your story is looking interesting. ^^
You'll have to ask someone else for critique on it though (I've a personal rule against me giving out critique to others' writing).

Anyway, I like the two new logos. It seems that every time you make a logo, you make two extreme versions of the same thing (meaning that you go full bold colour on one and pastel on the other). I think that a marriage between the two would do nicely. ^^
On average, I think that is something you should do; create two logos of the same text, and then create a marriage between them and POOF it becomes awesome. XD

Hmm...A marriage between the two, how? Use first/second color scheme? First/second image's wing design? I'm not sure entirely what you mean, but perhaps I can give it a shot...No promises, though.

As for the story...
At the end, I should not have put "it was the last thing Bradley ever read" because it isn't. Anyways, no more spoilers on that.
As for your personal rule...well...I'll not attempt to delve into that, whatever made you decide that is your business and it would be very rude of me to pry.
Though, to be honest, you're the only one who really replies to any of these posts, lol.
That's fine though, even your advice alone is extremely helpful.

Well, I took your advice to the best of my knowledge, which unfortunately isn't much, and this is the end result:

I love it!! :3
Perhaps a little more dark outline on the golden text (but just barely to help with readability), but it's beautiful! =D

"Marriage" is usually the term I use to say "take the best of both and make them one". I rarely use marriage in the sense of a legal partnership, but anyway. XD
You've got the idea, and you're doing splendidly. ^^

Well, I understood what you meant when you said it, I just wasn't sure how to go about fusing them properly. sweat.gif
Darker outline? No problemo, I saved the PSD for this one so I wouldn't have to bother with the symmetry all over again. happy.gif

Okay, here it is:

Hopefully that's dark enough, I didn't want to make it too dark. happy.gif

It's more readable, so it works just fine. =D
I really like the idea and it's more of a piece of art now versus just a logo. wink.gif

Thanks, glad you like it. I think I've finally decided to use this version as the title screen logo. I've already made a title screen with it, actually, using an image I found on the web.
Of course the Shinora Chronicles image is big enough to basically cover the entire background, lol.
Anyways, glad you like it, I'll very much more than likely be pumping out logos for other stuff than just Shinora Chronicles and whatnot.

I'd also like to do requests, too...only problem being...
I can't help but feel people would come here and start requesting things I simply don't have the skill to do. sweat.gif
Ah well. Perhaps I could redo the Surcease War logo for my friend, I haven't touched it in ages. I'm sure a less blurry version would be greatly appreciated. happy.gif

Excellent! happy.gif

Oh, and in relation to requests, if you decide to accept some requests you should simply be honest with whoever you are doing requests for and if you feel that you can't do that particular request, then just tell them. =]
Don't be so concerned that you'll disappoint them, because sometimes you simply can't offer what someone wants and that isn't always your fault so don't worry about disappointing them by not accepting their request. wink.gif

Thanks.
I may go ahead and give that a shot then. I just need to know if I need to do so in a seperate thread. happy.gif
Also, here's the newest "The Surcease War" logo.

Is that better? I'd certainly hope so. Even so...I can't help but feel like it's missing something. confused.gif

I like it; very red and very bold, yet still readable. ^^

I don't particularly feel as though it is missing anything in specific, though if you feel that it is then you could always play around with adding a character in there or some emblem of some sort on one of the top corners of the image (next to the text on one side or the other - just be careful with balancing; don't centre the text if you're adding an emblem/image/whatever on one side, but you can centre it if you add an image on both sides of the text though I wouldn't recommend clogging the image that much).
Also, the text is currently not centred with the decorations below it.
You can use guidelines in Photoshop to get them to match up properly. When moving different layers, they should by default automatically snap to guidelines.
You can create guidelines by pressing CTRL+R to display the ruler, and then using the move tool (press "V" to select the move tool) you can click on the ruler (vertical ruler or horizontal ruler) and drag onto the image; you'll see a line being dragged onto the screen and you can measure it to the centre of your project. Once it is there, things can be snapped to it; and to hide it without removing it, simply press "CTRL+H", which will toggle the hide function (on and off if you press it again). To delete one of the guides, simply using the move tool and drag the guideline off of the visible section of your project.

Hope that is useful information for you. ^^
I use guides all the time to make sure that everything is perfectly aligned. :3

Also, you are free to use this topic to allow requests. However, if you are doing requests for games (particularly) then you'll need to set up a Recruitment topic and put yourself up "for hire". =]

Updated my About Me page. Hoo-ray.
Moving on...

The text isn't... alligned with the.....fffffffffff-
*Photoshop. NOW. GO. DO IT RION. GOGOGOGO.*

Thanks for telling me that, wow, I really thought they were centered with each other. Fudge-cicles.

Although, if I do use this thread to accept requests, I should also change the topic name/description so people are aware I'm doing so, right?

Yeah, change the topic title and description if you wish; you could even advertise that you do requests in your signature. ^^

I've got an eye for things that are unbalanced, though I am not nearly perfect so I won't catch everything (I only briefly glance at things anyway). :3

Aha. I think I shall do so. My signature needs updated anyway, hurr-hurr.

I apparently do not, for I did not see it was unbalanced. I will probably get to it later...Photoshop kinda hogs my computer's resources since it's quite old. (From 2004 or something like that.)
I will also probably update the OP.
...Should I do that, or just post it as a reply and have people scroll through the pages?
..And...putting it in my signature could also attract more traffic over this-a-way. ninja.gif

Random Note of the Day:
I don't think anyone I know in real life ever expected me to become a brony. If they would have heard of it before I did, they would have probably assumed I would've blown it off as stupid, lame, etc.
At first I liked it for the humor, then I liked it for the story (although it's not entirely based around one plot, it kind of jumps around after the first 2 episodes of the first season, and same goes to the first 2 episodes of season 2. Season 1 and 2's pilot episodes are two-parts of each other and obviously follow some storyline, but pretty much every other episode afterward is unrelated to what the original storyline was)
In short, I ended up liking it for the story (even the non-plot driven episodes, for their moral-of-the-story endings and such)
And also just for what it is. A pretty awesome show. smile.gif

Anyways, enough of my ranting, time to update mah siggy. smile.gif

You should probably do both (update OP and a new reply). =D

Yeah, it's a funny show - though I've only watched a few select episodes (thanks to a friend, lol).
