EarthBound 64 -New Pics Revealed Options

Does anyone remember the Earthbound game that was supposed to come out for the 64? It was called Mother 64 for America. Well i/m creating this post because i found some old pictures of the game. This are from a Magazine called n64 and you can see them "HERE"

My point is: Why didn't this game come to America? Its would have been one of the best RPG's of all time!

These things happen sometimes, there's a lot of games that they don't think would be worth translating or ship overseas. It's like that in the UK and we're in a worse boat when it comes to this sort of thing because it goes through America first.

Actually reading up about this it seems as if this was cancelled, then years down the line it became MOTHER 3 on the GBA, though still only within Japan. There's been translations since but nothing professional as far as I can see.

If it wasn't for importing games I'd not have been able to play Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears etc list goes on. It's for a number of reasons why things don't get translated or introduced, I think the two above were Religious reasons. In the case for Earthbound, no idea, it seems though nowadays they'd be able to see the popularity of those titles and re-release/translate them for a wider audience.

The basic story concept eventually became that of Mother 3, however.
