Koyuki launched a strangled scream when Elly's hammer unexpectedly hit her chest, shattering the soul gem she was holding. Her limp and lifeless body was thrown back strongly, hitting a pillar and sliding to the floor. Her eyes were open, but nothing was shown on them. The bright purple they once were had completely vanished, leaving only lifeless darkness behind.
As Koyuki sent this illusion to Elly, she jumped backwards, and transformed. What was she going to do against the poor girl? She felt her soul gem inside her pocket. If nothing else worked, she'd have no other choice... but to cause her pain.

Rita killed the last of the familiars and ran back to Leon. He was badly injured, but she had to take that knife off of him. Very carefully not to twist it or slip it in even more, she began to take it out. She knew this would hurt him, badly, but there was nothing else she could possibly do. When she finished taking it out, she threw it away, hitting a familiar that was hiding in the darkness. She held out his hand to him and gave her best attempt to smile. "Are you okay?"

The hammer fell to the ground as did Koyuki's lifeless body. Elly had done it, she had killed this person, but the pain, it wasn't ending, not completely...what was going on? "You must kill the others, enter the Witch Den and kill them, kill them all Elly!" Something didn't seem right, but Elly could not focus through the pain. She picked up her hammer and began to slowly jump up the building, heading to the den.

Intense pain ripped through Leon's body, like a hot knife through spine. He could barely move, but he had to thank this person. "Thank you, I don't know who you are, even if you look a bit like a pirate, but I do appreciate that, I think there is something up with their weapons, they cause pain even when not hitting the soul gem." At least this is what he intended to say, but through the pain the only word that made it out was "...pirate..."

Rita blinked a few times before giggling. "Yes~ I am the pirate Puella Magi, my wish was to become the most beautiful pirate to ever sail the seven seas." She scratched her head, her joke-making skills were way too rusty. "Er, my name is Peet-- I mean Rita. Yes, Rita." She shook his hand and helped him get up, and put an arm around his shoulders to help him stand. She was just a tad taller than him- maybe about 4 inches. "Well, we have to find Erin, right? We don't want her getting lost and hurt..." She said, her voice going cold.

"Damn!" Koyuki yelled. Elly was being controlled and heading towards the barrier. This couldn't be, if Koyuki didn't stop her she'd hurt the others. She panicked and began to ran away from Elly, as far as she possibly could. If she could only disconnect her soul from her body... she'd probably break a few bones, but it'd be alright. At least everyone would be safe.

Elly was making her way to the top, only a bit more now and she'd reach the entrance and she could end the pain. She pushed herself up and jumped high, intent on landing on the roof, but something was wrong. Her vision went dark and her body stopped moving. The momentum was not enough to push her all the way to the roof and she began to fall, flying towards the metal and concrete hundreds of meters below.

Leon grinned, this girl...no she wasn't a girl was she? She was taller than him and obviously a bit older. That is odd, he swore he remembered Erin mentioning the short life span of Magi....so why? He didn't have time to think about it, the pain was still unbearable, even though his soul gem was healing him, slowly. "I think...my soul gem isn't working, I can't release it, and I don't know why...." They were making slow progress and it was beginning to worry Leon, what if they didn't make it to Erin in time? What if he caused Rita to slow down so Erin got no help?

Koyuki watched the purple gem in her hand become a ring, and started to run back to where Elly was. If she was just fast enough... The soul wouldn't reconnect unless she put the ring in her hand, anyway. She stopped at the place where Elly had started climbing, breathing very heavily. Where was she? Koyuki couldn't see anyone around, only the darkness. That seemed to get darker every second. Koyuki looked up, just in the right moment to see Elly falling on top of her, with a crushing force. The ground gave in under them, creating a sort of crater. "O-ow..." Koyuki complained, feeling a few crushed bones that were quickly regenerated. Struggling, she got up, picking Elly in her arms. She dug into her pocket for the ring, but froze after a second.
It wasn't there.

"Hey, don't worry, Erin isn't exactly weak." Rita smiled. She could feel the intense wave of worry that was radiating off Leon. "She'll be okay. She probably won't even need help." She tried to sound reassuring, as they walked down an endless hallway, slowly. The freakish paintings in the walls stared at them, as well as the monotone yellowish-brown floor. Rita knew that, truly, there was only a single hallway, connected with many twists and turns. At the slow pace they were going, it wouldn't take long until Erin found them. Or so she hoped.

Leon nodded, not really reassured, he knew that Erin was very unstable right now, she had been through so much in such a short time, and as strong she was, she was still just a teenage girl. He began to regain feeling in his legs, allowing him to move a bit more of his own power, picking up the pace. Whatever that weapon had done to him, it was starting to fade now that it was out of his body. It worried Leon though, what kind of person has such intimate knowledge or Magi that they can create weapons designed to harm them no matter what?

Erin's legs gave in and she fell to the ground, trying to breathe. She'd been running as fast as her legs could carry her for over 15 minutes, and she was dead tired. It seemed the hallway kept going on and on, forever, and she was lost, she was lost and tired. Where was everyone else? Leon? Peeta? Koyuki? Elly? Or even the familiars... There was nothing, only freaky eyes following her wherever she stared. She tried to curl up, but she didn't have enough energy, and closed her eyes. She'd just sleep it off, and dream of the small pink and green figures in the distance.

Koyuki turned her pockets upside-down, but they were empty. "Oh, no, oh no no no no no!" She panicked. She had just lost a soul gem... What was she gonna do? What if she couldn't find it? In three days, the body and the soul of Elly would be permanently separated. Koyuki gasped, not able to breathe. She ran around in aimless circles, but found nothing, the ring was not there. As she was thinking what she'd say to Leon about this, something shone in the distance. Something bright... and purple. Koyuki ran towards it.

Leon thought he saw something in front of him. He couldn't be sure, this hallway was playing tricks on him and his vision was still a bit blurry. Could it be? He started to move faster, ignoring the pain and pushing himself on. If that was her, did it matter how injured he was? He would stand and fight on the brink of death for her, that was all that mattered. He released Rita's shoulder and pushed himself into a limping run, it wasn't much faster but he knew he had to put the effort into it. If she was hurt....if worse....he didn't know what he would do.

Koyuki ran towards the faint glimmer of purple that shone lightly in the darkness. But, just as she'd reached it, it began to move, appearing elsewhere. Koyuki ran after it once more, only to have the same happen. It was like the soul gem was playing some sort of cat-and-mouse game with her. How annoying! But she had no choice other than keep chasing it. Could soul gems even run by themselves...? How awkward, Koyuki thought, just before tripping in a rock, as the purple glow reappeared on a building's wall.

Rita gently sat down and watched Leon run to Erin. She was just fine, Rita knew so. She still felt her energy radiating, Erin was not wounded, just exhausted. They'd have to kill this witch, quickly, or bad things would happen. Barriers naturally consumed the energy of people, and Magi were a lot more vulnerable to it. But, as sad as it was, Rita seemed to be the only Magi in that barrier that could even stand up to a witch, without potentially risking her life.

Leon scooped Erin into his arms, holding her close and feeling the beating of her heart. She was alive. "Erin. I'm here. Open your eyes, Senpai." He looked down at her and smiled, the pain was almost faded away, but he knew that his energy was fading and he knew it. "I have to destroy her, and quickly. I won't let anyone take you away from me. Not again." He closed his eyes and focused a bit, he would have to be at his peak to destroy a witch. He realized that this would be the first time he's had to face anything this strong alone. The first time he wouldn't have Erin with him.

"I know what you're thinking." Rita took a step towards Leon. "But the one who will fight this witch is me." She said, coldly. "You're too weak, and obviously Erin isn't going to be much help." She knelt by his side, looking at Erin, a million thoughts passing her mind. This witch came at an awfully bad time, always. But, she had to be defeated, the barrier was draining their energies slowly, and those two weren't going to get any better while in there. They would just get weaker and weaker, until they had no energy remaining, and their soul gems corrupted fully. But Rita wasn't going to let that happen. She sighed, why couldn't Elly or Koyuki come along as well? But, they were busy with their own matters, so Rita would have to take care of this by herself.

The little shining spot of glow was starting to really get on Koyuki's nerves. It fled exactly on time, taunting her. She slipped on a rock and fell to the ground, angry, and roared at it. "Come back RIGHT NOW!" until she realized. It was being controlled by someone, of course. Soul gems couldn't move on their own... She got up.
"Hey! Whoever you are! That's someone you got there, so I would advise you to GIVE IT BACK before I get seriously angry!" She yelled, looking in every direction, since the faint glimmer had vanished. A voice laughed, somewhere, and the last thing Koyuki saw before a foot landed on her face, knocking her to the ground, was a blur of blue.

Leon tried to stand up, but could not. He was not injured as badly anymore, but he was running out of energy. "I can't let you fight alone! I don't even know you! This witch is dangerous, I can sense it, and I can't just turn my back on you!" Once again he tried to stand, supporting Erin against him, but his legs gave out and he sank to his knees. "I....I can't just sit here and do nothing."

Rita approached the witch, and said "Need some beans for the chowder here!" and thus, the witch knew her existence was complete. She collapsed to the floor in agony as the knowledge of her passing consumed her in dazzling colors and splendor. Rita then began to eat the witch, as she tasted good with some sand, mayo, and a nice, juicy slice of ham. The world rejoiced, and celebrated the event with pie and cake. Lots of cake. And beans.(with chowder)

"I'm a lot stronger than you, especially in that state... you wouldn't hold for a minute." Rita said, and got up. Nothing was going to make her change her mind. She'd already fought this witch before, it wouldn't be hard. "I'm going alone... you wait here." She walked away, towards the end of the dark hallway. The pictures' creepy stare was burying inside her. They'd always bothered her... the eerieness of that maze was awful.

Koyuki's heart skipped a beat. She'd seen that color before, she'd felt that shoe in her face before. She got up slowly and looked at the girl in front of her. "N...Nat...Natalia?" She managed to whisper. The other girl smirked, her bright golden eyes glimmering. It was like a ghost in front of Koyuki: the girl had a very pale skin, with catlike gold eyes, and her hair and clothes were of a gentle blue. In one of her hands was a very long scythe, and in the other...
"Hey! Give that back!" Koyuki yelled. It was Elly's soul gem.

"Why?" Natalia played with the purple gem in her hand. "Why do you deserve it?" Her playful smirk became an angry face. "What have you ever done to deserve anything from me?!" Her voice's tone grew steadily, quickly becoming a scream. Koyuki took a step back, scared. She whispered an apology.
"Right. That's totally gonna be enough, right?" Natalia said, smirking again. She tossed the gem to Koyuki's hands, seeing as she caught it clumsily. She'd always been a little like that, a clumsy idiot. "This time you can have it, but only because that girl has nothing to do with this..." She said, and with a flick of her fingers, floated, and flew away.

Koyuki sighed in relief, and ran back to Elly quickly. Seeing that ghost from her past had completely frightened her, but she'd recover eventually. Hopefully Natalia would leave her alone.
Koyuki knelt by Elly and put her soul gem inside her hands, poking her face lightly. "Elly! Wake up, Elly." She called.
