Well I don't really know how this whole thing will work out. I'm really concerned on what kind of editor we'll need to build the maps. The RMVX editor or some other 3D map editor.
For now there is a quite good software for making FPS games and it's called FPS Creator. If you manage to make this thing to work better than FPS Creator then I'll be impressed.

Yea...I think you should use DarkBASIC Professional...Not C++ to make a game engine. I've tried. And failed.
Then I turned onto DarkBASIC Pro at
http://www.thegamecreators.com
And made my own Game Engine really easily (well for me) like Fps Creator was made in Db Pro, and the 3d Gamemaker
and PlayBASIC. And Leadwerks Engine 2.0.
AND With DarkBASIC Professional X10 came Fps Creator x10. (direct x10)

rth hasnt posted anything to this thread in over a month i think we should consider this vapor ware

all that was was a freeware version of a 3d engine

the quake 1 and unreal 1 engines are free to use these days so long as its non comercial use and only going to be freeware


so even if this was fully developed it couldnt be sold w/o getting sued by them..

until i see this thing running a top down map rpg style i just have assume its just one of the demo progs from the dev package....

the real test will be to see it do something other than the quake lelvels which is what it was programmed to do....

I can't see any way for a script to be able to make VX a 3D RPG Maker Engine!

Too Cool to be true! *drools*

Really, really nice.

It must be hard to create maps with this, though...

while i'm a beginner to using vx (i'm more of a 2003 guy) i do know about quake and the mapping and engines involved

i'm pretty sure he's running idtech 3 (the quake 3 engine) here, as this is inconsistant with the other 2, and its not unreal.
also due to the way the quake 3 maps i don't see him getting rpg maker maps running on this
the level had rooms over rooms, which you can't do with 2d mapping "unless he's employing the duke nukem trick" (putting multiple stories in a building, by putting it in the 2d map once, and then having the renderer split it into multiple floors)
but that only works with sprite based affairs, besides that id tech 3 doesn't use 2d maps

just because someone packed the source code to quake 3 into a rpgVX executable doesn't mean much as, he already said this wasn't mapped in VX, meaning absolutely nothing from VX is being used in the creation of this, i don't know how he has the engine incorporated, but i don't see this going anywhere

Yuppers, I've never understood all the fuss people have been giving this here/at other forums. It's not much and nothing to do with RM itself, just some simple scripting tricks to use a different engine.

Also, he's using irrlight (free & used much better OUTSIDE rpg maker if you can program), not quake 3.

This is proberly more likely a fake script anyways.
The game looks like visual basic program crossed with a rpg maker cover.
Someone whose good with game mechanics obviously managed to get it all encrypted into looking like a VX Game but in realtity VX can do many things, tho not 3D.

Methinks of waiting for a RPG Maker that looks vadely like FF7... tho that'll never happens methinks till 2020.

Tho Tbh, i think the 3D script is a farse.
If there was a script that could do this i think they'd have released it with the rpg maker or released its scripts by now.
