It might kinda seem jumping-the-gun to some, but I'm going to start a thread for the first game in my eventual series (though whether or not this'll be a series depends on the reception of the final version and how much people want a sequel) soon. I'm done about an hour or so of game (first few areas), but I want to get done at least a couple more areas so the demo can be a decent length.
I'm very happy with the project so far, though some features I really wanted to include (Neo Save System and weapons in Vampyr SBABS) both had to be cut since they were causing bugs. Oh well, though.
So far I'm working out the kinks as best as I can and so far I feel the game is mostly playable with only occasional visual glitches here and there. I'll still do my best to make the game bug-free, as I've made three games before (which I know I've stated once or twice) but despite how much I've learned about RPG Making, I still might be just a beginner to some.
But I digress; demo's coming soon, guys. All details will be revealed in the thread.
I haven't yet created a thread for Valiance either. I'll wait on some concept art, and a more refined story before I do. Oh, and I should probably start mapping for some screenshots. Hmm, I'm not sure there'll be a thread any time soon.

I'm playtesting this fucker to death, as I've said before, so hopefully there shouldn't be too many bugs. I'm not the best mapper, so the presentation might be lacking in a few areas, but I'll still do my best to make the game as interesting-looking as possible.
Just two more areas, then a thread-a be goin' in da submissions forum.
EDIT: Alright guys, I'm going to submit the demo today in the proper section. Be on the lookout!
Well, another really nice anime is Monster. If you haven't seen it, and you liked Death Note... you'll absolutely love Monster.
Well I've been watching it and I'm about forty eps in. Its okay, entertaining enough to keep watching me but I don't know why so many people compare it DeathNote. Sure, its got amateur sleuthing and a slither of supernature but stylistically it is nothing alike; its just so structured and focused on building up to the big resolution rather than the constant twists of Kira and L's progressing conflict.
and the one time they do catch up to Johan
not only do they manage to pincer him as he's unarmed, they never fire a goddman shot until he's so obviously out of range. RAGE. Honestly, that scene was so poorly done and it was probably the most important part so far.
Honestly the only episode I truly enjoyed was the one with the fairy tale in it, that part at least was timed well.

I loved the story part, but it's not like Death Note in style. It's just similar in that you want to like the main character (Light) in the same way that you want to like Johan.
Here's my reason, but this is a spoiler for the show.
I never wanted to believe that a small kid could be responsible for some of the things that Johan was responsible for, and I wanted him to come around and switch sides throughout the show. At the end I was sort of surprised at what happened to him, but I still wish it was slightly different - that's not to say that I would change the story, rather that I would have personally liked to have seen a different ending. =]
a pretty massive inconsistency in Angel Beats that ruined it
She says she was able to continue living because she had the organs he had donated in death...yet she was in the afterlife long before him. (the names elude me but I mean the protagonist and the girl he ends up with)
There were a couple of other little things that bugged me throughout but I don't really remember them (I'm pretty sure there was something wrong with the ending too). It just tried to do too much in thirteen eps and ended up with a half-assed plot and two-dimensional characters. Don't get me wrong it looked nice and all, but Angel Beats is kinda like my old flatmate; she can put on as much make-up as she likes, but it isn't making her any more interesting.

Of all the reasons people give for a forum being quiet, the most active months seem to be December, January, May, and July (in terms of unique visitors and pageviews). But, if the source is accurate (I'm referring to 'visitors per month' here), you can really see the drop off between December 2011, and December 2010, but then, the gap widens in May, June (with June 2012 being less than 36% of June 2011), and this month, July. Additionally, pageviews overall are down, and pageviews per visitor are down.
Overall, some interesting numbers, I think!
I wish I had numbers for the number of forum posts, that would give some great insight.

We are limited in the reports we can get but I will see what I can get later. It would be interesting for us as well.
The active months as expected tie up with school breaks which is what we usually experience.

activity is certainly an exponential thing. Like, every time someone posts, each person who sees it has an x% chance of replying to that post. Then someone else has an x% chance of replying to that. However, replying increase the time your on the site, and so the y% chance that another post will come along that you read. So once enough people are online, the number of replies reaches such a point that there is no need to leave the site. you can have it open in another tab and return every few minutes to continue a train of thought. Alternatively, with less activity, visiting the site becomes a thing done only once or twice a day, and often briefly, because not much is changing.
In theory, you can increase activity by bumping semi-active topics. That is to say, click the new posts button, find the oldest posts since you were last online, and post in them if possible. If everyone did this, then very few topics would die, but the number of topics would still increase. Meaning more availability of topics to post in, more topics to read, and longer time spent on the site (increasing the y% chance). It all has a knock on effect.
I'd love to do the math, make some differential equations. e^x type stuff. You'd need a LOT of data to work that out though...
