Just posting a few screenshots of the Unreal map that my class have been working on for some time. It's finally almost finished so yeah. Not all the stuff in these screenshots were made by me (although I did do all the base textures for most of it). If it was made by me, I've most likely posted it in this thread before.

Wow, those look like commercial games! Excellent quality, and the weapons look great as well. =D The entire environment resembles a jewel cave with a research/mining facility in it. Though I'm not sure why a war is going on down there, lol.

Made another wall panel - this time more modular. Going to make modular pieces for an entire environment I guess. Because I feel like it.
Also, mods all done and dusted. We presented it at Av-Con in Adelaide and it was very well received so I'm pleased with that and pleased that it's all over now.

Bad news Recently I've had TWO flash drives die on me, resulting in the loss of substantial amounts of work. Two things that were completely lost and I must re-do from scratch are these:
This was just a test in class, completed in 45 min. Nothing special, not worried about losing it.
Railway Tracks
However I'm sad that I lost this. This texture has a style I've been worried about getting right for ages and I think I pulled it off in this instance but now it's gone. :\ I can completely remember how I did it so hopefully it will be easy to replicate over and over.
Thirdly, I lost some progress on this model, but not all. I just have to redo a lot of UVing, which isn't a huge deal.
Train
The train and the tracks are both part of a project I'm working on which you can read all about/view progress HERE.
First let me say your work is bloody fantastic! I love all of your work, very awesome stuff!

I.. think I've finished the queen. FINALLY.
Here's a marmoset render of her front end
Dear lord this scared me! But it a good way, promise! I really like how realistic this looks, and I agree with the poster who said it kinda had a seahorse likeness too it. Well, either way I love it.

Your "test" grassy image looks really good; it resembles some of the things I've seen in the Spiral Knights on-line game. Definitely of good enough quality to be sold to a professional gaming company.
The train looks absolutely perfect and reminds me of some of the older trains I've come across a few years ago. ^^ The tracks look really good too. Of course, if you were to have about 6 different textures for the wood grain it'd look less pattern-ish. (If you get what I mean.)

Why don't people make games that look this good?
Haha, they do! Just not on consoles
Actually I guess the main reason not every prop in a game looks so detailed is that they have to keep the platform they're working on in mind. Eg the Wii's rendering power is not as good as the 360/PS3 and they aren't as good as a high end PC. Which is why you get PC exclusive games occasionally that just like awesome for their time (Crysis). Also, it takes too long to make everything stupidly high detail.
Thank you

Thank you, XMO. If I'd put 10 different looking wood textures on each plank they'd have all been very low resolution (and it would've taken me a lot longer). They've all got the same texture stacked onto one and other, but I've added some variation by flipping the planks on the X and Z axis

Wow, how many tris are on that barrel? The cylindrical surface is smooth and almost seamless. I'm used to 8 tris on a barrel... damn PS2 graphics... XD
The crate looks amazing! You should do a rendition of a Donkey Kong explosives crate.
