Izari

Abstract: A journey of a young man named Jay Quills who went from an aristocrat to a fighter. Jay wishes to enter in a fighting tournament, the Vain Challenge(VC). Before he can do so he must gather a team and head to a foreign land. Will he be able to make it to the VC? If he does, will he win?
Genre: Fantasy
Engine: RPG Maker VX Ace

Story
Jay Quills is the son of an aristocratic family that lives in Favier, Dexrim. He spent his childhood studying dusk to dawn everyday, taking only Sunday off to go to church. His early teen years went by in the same way. Jay longed to be able to play and have fun like regular children, like his friends. As Jay turned 15, the boredom became unbearable. Jay had to find a way out of his regular boring life. So he ran away. With just the "Kells" he had saved from birthdays he left town. 4 years later and Jay had set up another life in a small snowy village. In Snyair Jay had found a home, and a source of income. Fur trading had become Jay's lifeline, and was much more exciting than studying day to day. Along with the fur trade business, Jay had also been entering an underground fighting league, simply named UFL. Jay had become skillful in the art of combat, and with his success came fame. The owner of the UFL's Snyair branch took notice of Jay and invited him to the UFL Vain Challenge. The Vain Challenge was an up-scaled version of the UFL. The VC allowed teams to enter matches instead of just one on one fights. Now Jay will have to find a team if he wants to win the VC. How will this unwind?

Update

I've been working on it and have made a little demo. Nothing major but it will allow you to play a bit of the game, Little of the story is told just the beginning and starting you out for your adventure. 2 towns are in the demo along with 1 story quest and a side quest. Also an optional boss is in it too, the demo is only about 20 minutes I'd say. Mostly I want to here feedback on what to change and what you like. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Oooohhhhh...

Giving this a shot right now. I'll let you know what I think.

Very intriguing stuff from what I've read. I love games that have to do with fighting leagues.

EDIT: Alright...

Good stuff so far. Battle system's fine, most maps look good and whatnot. However, some music outside of battle would be nice, as I didn't notice any. Also, there were some text issues with NPCs (i.e., text didn't show fully in the window at times), but that's a common mistake, so no worries. I would mention that the story isn't fleshed out very well, but you already stated that the demo wouldn't explain much, so eehhh.

The only semi-major issue I had apart from mentioned above was this:

yeah.

Otherwise, I hope to see more from this soon!

Well thanks for playing and actually taking the time to give me feedback. Yes I haven't done the music yet that's something I'll have to do. The npc is a minor problem(thought I fixed them all but I'll go back and fix them again lol) and as for the story... even though the demo doesn't have much of it, that was the way I was going to start it out.... should I put more in the beginning?

As for the building problem.... lol that's funny. There's also a similar glitch in Snyair where you can just walk up on the hill from the side. I'll need to fix that. Again thanks for your feedback, it'll be very helpful. I'm glad your liking it so far smile.gif Any more suggestions or problems?

Nah, other than what I've mentioned, you're good, bro.

And yeah, I would recommend explaining the story a bit more in the beginning so you can better hook the players.

PPl are really rushing out these ACE games, but its ok to liven things up I guess, from what I saw the main thing you need to do is take another look at your intro of this topic, you have misspelled a few words and dont really have much of a description when it comes to the features, A quality game needs a quality intro.

Lato your absolutely right! I was rushing this game and got it put here, but I've done some thinking and reading up on some subjects as well as play some of the better RPG MAKER games and I've decided that I need to slow down and make this a quality game, otherwise I'm just wasting my time putting out a game no one will play. That's why as of now everything that's been done will be rehashed and perfected as much as possible. I'm diffidently going to make this game into something you, and everyone else would at least consider as an option to play.

That's my goal anyway. Izari will become a game that has an in-depth story and hopefully enjoyable and dynamic characters that the player will remember. To do this I'll have to use all my abilities and a lot of time but I'm now dedicated.
