Have people heard of OUYA
? It's a console that runs android-based games on the Tv with it's own controller. And it's open source, which means ANYONE can make games for it and put it on their market (well, anyone who knows how to make android apps). Some big names have already pledged titles, including - wait for it - Square-Enix's Nintendo DS remake of Final Fantasy 3. And best of all, it only costs $109 - waaay less than any console in recent years.
Anyone else excited about this? I bought a book on the basics of android programming but it was above my head. I was able to set up Eclipse, run an emulator and write a "Hello World" app, but that's as far as I got. I have taken one introduction to computer programming class and followed tutorials on RRR so I'm sort of familiar with Ruby, but that's the extent of my programming knowledge.
