I have not heard anything but negative things about IG maker. As horrible as it is, it is still in the first release. Game Maker on the other hand, has had 8 major releases and just changed its entire website. so any comparison between the two, or insights, or comments?

IG Maker was basically supposed to be Enterbrains answer to Mark's Game Maker, however IG Maker did have a great layout and actually could have worked well if they had implemented a RPG Maker like Coding system and even a scripting system would have been nice.

If Enterbrain added those 2 simple features they could have made a wonderful engine to use, to bad they failed as I would have liked to see IG go farther.

To answer your question it's impossible as the battle system you create is almost 100% identical every time, but with Game Maker it can be 1000X different in every game.

Game Maker is cheaper, much more versatile, more widely supported, and normally backwards compatable on new releases. There's no comparison really.

Just out of curiosity, since Game Maker allows for all sorts of different games, if we wanted to make a RPG Maker type of game (turn based RPG), you'd have to pretty much create everything from scratch, right? There's no built in inventory, or shop system, or even a battle system. And most likely no resources either. It's a complete blank canvas, right?

i have heard of a few people who have tried, usually seasoned programmers who have a lot of experience with GM. It would be an interesting concept if somebody would put one up
