After 9 months of hard work, we are pleased to announce the full release of Lodestone2d Chapter 1!

General Description:

Lodestone is a 2-dimensional RPG currently in construction by university students. The impetus for this project was a common love for video games and more specifically Roleplaying games. Using what tools we have available, our mission is to create a vibrant, rich, and immersive video game.
We are planning to create a six-chapter game, with each chapter delivering 3-4 hours of gameplay.
To those who enjoy a homegrown RPG experience, Lodestone2d awaits.

Chapter's 1 Plot:

In Chapter 1 you will begin Lodestone in an army camp, and as a member of a special unit that is being deployed into a hostile city. This is to be your last mission before you are allowed to return home to his love, but things end badly and you are forced to escape. This starts your journey. From this point on you will have to struggle across dangerous terrains and deceiving puzzles, battle through technologically advanced enemy soldiers, gain and lose friendships and encounter unique and deadly monsters.

Characters:

Traeus (23):
Traeus is a Myrian noble sent to war by the newly-ascended king Jecter so that he can marry Meia. Jecter started this war for an unknown reason, and rumors abound that it was simply to boost his own ego. As Jecter is not really liked in the kingdom, he could not have ordered Traeus killed without his own position being precariously jeopardized. Traeus has trained in the art of combat in the court, but has no real combat experience. To this end he makes an average soldier from the beginning of the game, but is elevated to the rank of corporal because of his rank at court.

Meia (22):
Meia is another noble from the Myrian court. She is betrothed to Traeus and will marry him when he returns from war. She is missing in the beginning part of the game except in dreams and memories. She will appear later in the game.

Gabriel (36):
Gabriel is a lone fighter who has a vendetta against the Glaucians and feels betrayed by his homeland

Features:

- a 3-4 hour game
- Original artwork
- Deep VX scripts cusomization
- Original music
- Intricated plot
- Side view battle system heavily modified
- a lot more

I think you did an excellent job on it, though I'm not quite sure if it's possible to leave the camp. I'd assume it's just a teaser? Or I'm just an idiot and couldn't find a way out? tongue.gif

I'm going to try it, and give you a review. I might sound dumb, but how do you do the first puzzle?

Don't worry did the puzzle.

I'm about 2 hours into the game, and I really like the setting a lot. The deserted, snowy town kinda reminds me of Narshe in FF6.

But as I played, a lot of the dialogue kept going offscreen. It's not that bad at the start; pretty much only Meia's lines were going offscreen. After the train scene, though, a good bit of dialogue is being pushed out of the screen when a character says more than one line. Is it because of the facesets? (If you want a screenshot, I could post one if you want)

Other than that weird text bug I'm having, this is a good game! Plus, there was almost no lag on the maps, which is awesome. smile.gif

I'll give this game a shot, from the replies I've read this game seems pretty decent.

Seems like a good game. I found two problems, the latter of which is hardly noticeable.

1. Opening cutscene was waaay to slow. I found myself half asleep by the end of it due to the long pauses and extremely slow walking.

2. Theres a guy in the first map who jumps up into the air and comes down to chop axe stump. If you walk under him while hes in the air, hell land on you and will go inside you. But you dont get stuck or anything.

Other than that 1st one, good game, because the second one isnt really to important.

Here's a few. I only ss'd some areas since I only have two saves, but the missing text occurs in other places too.

I'm not sure what to say, did this ever occur with other VX games? This the first time such a thing happens and there aren't any reasons it should. The game has been tested on so many different computers and conditions... I have no idea how can such a thing happen considering the VX engine is the same. What OS are you on? And, are you by chance running Windows 64 bit? Or even worst, Windows 7? Please let me know smile.gif

I'm running 32-bit Vista with SP2. This happens to me in most VX games that use the default font. But when I play a game with a custom font, the text doesn't go offscreen for some reason...

(Just for testing, I made a new project with an NPC that says "I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!". With a face included, the line shows up fully in the editor, but the line gets cut off at "to" ingame. Those arrows are misleading in my editor pinch.gif )

Then again, I don't think it's really a major issue since I can still sorta understand what the characters are saying.
