Fishing System

System Used: Rpg Maker Vx
Difficulty: Normal

Information:This fishing system is based off the idea of action packed fun for hardcore gamers who like a challenge while doing mini-games. It features the button mashing style of fishing, one button does it all. The system also requires the fishing rod to be equipped and for the player to have bait in their inventory or else they can't go fishing...unless fish like metal hooks? Nope, they don't smile.gif
A custom image bar and a meter bar is provided with the system in the pictures folder. Also, a fishing animation of the character is required, one is provided if you do not feel like creating one or you can use that one to base how your own fishing character will look like.

Demo:The system is used by several common events and one event on map to call those events. Their is a common event called Instructions to tell you what to do step by step if certain things are conflcting and so on.

--Fish A.I.
=This is in a basic form but allows different speeds throughout the fishing bar. It's set to five states of speed depending on how close the fish is to land.
--Fish Weight
=This is a basic form of weight with no decimals inbetween, it effects the movement speed along with the Fish A.I. update.
--Seperate Fishing Location
=Allows for specific fish to be caught by directly changing the event on map that starts the fishing. This makes it easier to randomize in large area's or just one spot.
--Cancel Fishing
=This allows the player to exit the phase where your waiting for the fish, in case it's taking to long to find a fish on hook.
--Disable Menu
=Simple problem while fishing was being able to interrupt the common events by entering the menu and creating bugs in the events. It's now disabled to prevent that.

Read the Common Event <<Add-Ons>> if using an older version, if not, then you don't need to. Feel free to read it if you are having trouble or ask me for help.

Lol, Glad you liked it.

I'll be adding a version soon that will have the following add-ons and fixes of current things.
-----
ADD-On->Music depending on the character who has the fishing rod equipped. (Personal Player Music)
FIX->Saves the bgm you currently have and restores it after fishing
ADD-On->Player Score through types and amounts of caught fish
FIX->Organized version of how to check how much of each fish is caught
------
If anyone has any suggestions they would like to make to help improve The Fishing System, feel free to. smile.gif

Possibly a chance for the rod to break when a fish is caught. The chance increases/decreses depending on the wieght of the caught fish (Basically, a fish would have "Small" or "Medium" or "Big" or "Huge" in it's name, and the system would apply the breaking chance respectively)

Interesting Idea Majin, I might consider it. Would the rod be breaking and you don't catch the fish or after you catch the fish. I'll most likely make it before you catch the fish.
Next version will take quite some time, I've been thinking of new ideas for it.
Enjoy the first version while you wait for the next version smile.gif
The next version will be a plug-in so it won't be hard to add to the current version.

Perhaps, a little thing that could be done is, is that instead of making a sprite-specific tile set, you would define an icon in IconSet to be the rod, and when you were to use this fishing system, it would show the icon of the rod overlapping your sprite. It's definitely possible, as people have made simmilar things in ABS battle systems, such as Vampyr ABS System. Might be difficult, but it would be much more newby friendly for basic users, people who can't sprite or have a huge database of characters that would be able to use fishing *Points at database of 100 different actors*

Well, the character would still have to be changed to look like he's bending back when pulling the fishing rod. Adding a fishing rod image would still require the character image to be edited...and much more complicated to make sure the image fits next to the guy on all fishing spots. It is a nice idea for non-spriters though.

Great event but I have 1 issue it is whenever I use shift it keeps pulling up sticky keys which gets annoying and you can't capture the fish. Any ideas to find a way around it.

You can turn off the stickys when it pops up I believe, if not, you can change the key input in the common events...
-Not Press
-Press
The key set says 'A' , it's shift, but you can change it to 'X' , which is 'A' on the keyboard..

Hmm thats odd, I just tried them and it worked. But I'll edit it and see if I can fix it.
