RMXP Game Crashes on Start-Up. Options

Hopefully i'm posting in the correct place.

I'm trying to play Bloodsphere but whenever i try to launch the game, it immediately crashes with the "****Has stopped working" error message.

I'm on Win 7 (32-Bit) and i've already tried compatability mode and disabling Desktop Composition, neither has helped.

Any help would be appreciated,

Have you tried running it as administrator? If not, either right click and select the option, or check the box for it in the same place you turned on compatibility mode.

I guess the question I should have asked before is if this happens with the majority of XP games you are playing, or just this one. I assumed at the time it was an XP issue because you mentioned installing the RTP and/or XP, but I could be wrong.

Can you still open up RMXP's editor, assuming you have it installed?

I suppose one thing to ask is in the Bloodsphere project folder, if you open up game.ini does this read:


[Game]
Library=RGSS102E.dll
Scripts=Data\Scripts.rxdata
Title=Bloodsphere
RTP1=
RTP2=
RTP3=

If the dll reads RGSS102J.dll it needs to be changed to 102E.dll.

And finally, my AVG will sometimes read XP games as a virus when they are not, so maybe double check that AVG isn't causing the issue?

Honestly, i don't know, i haven't really downloaded any other RMXP games at the moment. I did download some RMVX games in the past and i recall having some trouble getting one in particular to run which nobody seemed to be able to help with either, but i'm not sure of the rest i've played were also RMVX or created using another version.

I did install RMXP at one point to see if it helped, but i didn't keep it around, i already deleted/uninstalled it and no, i never did check to see if the actual program worked or not.

Yes, the game.ini reads like that.

I'll disable AVG and try again.

Have you taken of the firewall at you computer? it uses to make problems for me a lot, so once i re-install windows on my computer, the first thing i do is to disable it

Tried that and didn't work either.

Does anyone know how ti disable AVG? i can't seem to find any way to do so, outside of preventing it to start when windows boots.
