[I wanted to use a poll, and I figured the current Music Discussion thread would've been unsuitable for a straight on poll.]

Personally, I like having hard copies. I can re-rip them into whatever quality I want more than once. Plus, I like being able to physically hold my library in disks, instead of having to hold a hard drive. o.o xD

Hmm, this is hard.

I like hard copies if the music is from the 90s and earlier... "traditional" I guess.

But I kinda like digital in general better. You can preview stuff and they give you suggestions or links to other artists. You can also google lyrics and individually pick which songs you want on an album.

I'm probably partly influenced by my dad though. He has around 700-1000 CDs, and they are cluttered/ hoarded in our basement... :-/

I have a small collection of hard-copy discs (because I'm quite the opposite of a pack-rat, lol), but most of my music collection is on iTunes (or digitally bought from other sites that don't sell their music on iTunes). Of course, there are some songs I have for free from sites like OCRemix, etc. (Legal to download, but I don't share them with anyone, I link them to the original download location instead.) happy.gif

I hate being cluttered or disorganised. ><

My internet connection is rather inconsistent, at best, so having music that I can play without being connected is very important.
Also, I put a lot of songs on my iPod for when I go jogging or when I'm shopping at the mall and none of my friends are able to be there with me. (Everyone, like me, is too busy nowadays - so we all practically shop alone and then show off our stuffs whenever we see each other next, lol. Guys do it to, but usually in a different way.)

People seem to forget that you can always rip your CDs; into FLAC, too.

Yeah but the result of ripping is not a hard copy- a hard copy is of physical substance. If you're buying cds for the sole intent of ripping (which is very possible considering how cd drives are going the way of the floppy disk, even in cars and home music systems), well then get the tracks from itunes =P

a truly horrible bit of software, why anone uses it or an i-pod escapes me.

Personally like hard copy better, but the way everything is going these days, everything has to be downloaded and/or streamed.

Books now have E-Readers
Movies have Cloud, Netflix Streaming, Youtube, etc.
Games are typically MMORPG's, require online activation, or (in the case of a lot of indie games) are just digital downloads.

It's safe to say that digital is the new format for entertainment. Too bad it's like pulling teeth just to get some decent game translations of NES rpg's that were never released outside of Japan. You'd think it'd make for a quick, cheap sale since all that would be needed is the translation, but who knows?

But no matter what you can get online, there's just no equivalent to getting that hardcopy CD, book, music CD, whatever, pulling back the wrapping, and reading the back, opening the case, skimming the manual, etc. As for CD's breaking, they should consider doing what they did for movies and make a sort of equivalent blu-ray quality CD for music (if they haven't already).

CDs are nice and all, but I find just straight up downloading music to be more convenient.

...especially considering I listen to metal almost constantly and I simply have to have alot of tracks. tongue.gif

I tend to still buy CDs, for similar reasons like Ponds already said and also for Monster Rancher tongue.gif

It's so much easier also, having a CD which you can just stick in and play on pretty much any device without the faff.

Talking about legal, legit music downloads of course, I prefer the hard-copies from Best Buy. Because like the post mentioned above I enjoy cuddling my CDs. Although, I mostly download from MP3Skull, or my phone's music downloader.

For game OSTs I really enjoy, I end up ordering it from play-asia. As for the rest, it's generally from Beatport. I've discovered numerous artists thanks to their streamlined service. It may be a bit pricey, but that's why I wait for discount codes then purchase. Sure I can save if I buy it from itunes or something, but eh, I really don't like to.

I also go onto sites like jamendo and such for cc music. You discover awesome people everyday really.

A project developed by Ambry. This used to be my old RMXP project but I converted it to GM8 and now Construct due to the game play possibilities. It's an action platformer with RPG elements and slight twists here and there. The project is based on 'The Seventh Tower' series by Garth Nix, but I assure you, I'm changing a lot of things!
