The Axiom Theory

[i]Abstract: It's sorta like the Gundam series, but more modern and the antagonist isn't a blond guy with a weird mask. The title, depending on how you interpret it, is either an oxymoron or just plain redundant. It sets the mindset of the characters. Also, it sounds neat. The demo doesn't really go into many details, though.

Genre: Science Fiction (mostly)
Engine: RMVX Ace

Story
The title, though vastly confusing, refers to the main character's decision at the beginning of the game. "They trashed my town, so I'm going to help their enemies trash them" without actually considering whether the side he joined was worse. Are they fighting a group of physically superior usurpers, or are they trying to crush a minority just looking for a place of their own to live in peace? There are a number of other characters that are introduced (not fully) who also must consider whether their firmly held beliefs (axioms) are conjecture, or proven facts. Basically, they're doing what they think is right, regardless of the effects, simply because they whole-heartedly believe it is, and they're willing to kill and die for what they perceive is reality. Initially, Humanity discovered a new energy source, but the effects of mining it turned many into pale, elf-like creatures called Cinereo, who (despite their heritage) wanted to break away from their inferior human bretheren and keep the energy-rich land for themselves, and decide to take as much as they can to advance themselves as a society. Obviously, the rest of the planet has a problem with this, so war breaks out among interested parties.

Setting
Modern Earth, actually. Geographically different, but I was too lazy to make realistically accurate maps. There's some high-tech stuff that both sides are killing each other over. Basically, stuff like S.H.I.E.L.D's helicarrier are every-day military transportation.

Characters

You

A chemistry teacher with a degree in biochemistry, though not an overly pleasant person. The Cinereos were looking for a crashed aircraft, and felt that steamrolling his town with a tank battallion wasn't over-doing it. After being picked up by a warship (coincidently the one that launched the aforementioned aircraft) he became one of their pilots. His name is a pun, referencing both the player, and how the hero of Gundam Wing is named, ironically, Heero.

Galahad

You's wingman and friend, he lives up to his namesake by embracing the knight's code of chivalry, and is well liked by the ship's crew (most notably the females). He acts as a modern-day knight in shining armor.

Captain Hera Therman

Acting captain of the Tiburon, she aided in the rescue of You after he escapes the Cinereo forces by blowing up a toilet. Although she respects him as a soldier, she dislikes his callous and impulsive ways.

Queen Cinereo

Named after the "new" race on earth, of which she is a part of, she serves as both war commander and queen (in an ant hill sort of way). She is tasked with capturing the Tiburon for her side, but ends up getting captured herself.

Prince Thero

Cinereo's brother, and co-comander. He is tasked with finding his sister after the Tiburon mission goes sour.

Credits
It uses the Yanfly Ace Engine, as well as materials from both this site and VX.net, mostly the vehicles. I'll try to get the names later. Tank from Greykid, tiles and aircraft from Avadan, Tsukuru, CrimsonLotus...not sure where the F18 came from, but I'll look into it.

Features
-Pretty story-driven, but not tediously so. There's actually not that much fighting, but it's done both in and out of the aircraft, so you're not wandering through fields fighting invisible rats
- air Combat is very confrontational; enemy aircraft are visible, and track you down, or you have to find them
- fast-paced puzzles where you have to think on the fly, rather than some block-pushing nonsense.
-A more visual (though yet to be implemented) system that uses portraits for dialogue. I wasn't able to implement this system yet, so for now, just go with the flow.

Progress
1/3 done. It's missing a lot of non-essential NPCs and images, mostly due to upload size constraints. It also needs a bunch of images for dialogue purposes.

Known Issues
Complicated themes.

Most of my images will be there, since this site takes too long to approve stuff and VX.net has no bulk uploader.
