Ok I plan to make a game with RPG maker but I want to know could people recommend me some extra stuff that I could add to it before I start. I mean like character packs, backgrounds etc. When you mention characters and the sort please link the character, picture sets, and the other stuff I would need.

I dont want to have just a random character face that doesnt relate to any of the bodys, also remember only to link stuff that suit in place with the rpg normal stuff so no goku or anything that seems out of place as in sprite style.

I'm guessing you posted this because you don't have many resources for 2k or 2k3? And were hoping people would help you out by posting things they think you should have?

I think you might find this helpful, if you haven't come across it yet.
http://charas-project.net/resources.php?wa...ll&fsearch=

If that is not your intention and you still want random suggestions on what you should use, than disregard my post.

I didnt say I wanted you guys to post random stuff but stuff that are similar the the style of the stuff in the resource folder without adding things. Yea I already came across that site and searched around but I couldnt really find stuff that I wanted for a final fantasy styled rpg.

I havent collected anything for the game I want to create because I wanted people to recommend me some good addons.

...Do you mean everything in relation to the RTP style? What style of graphics are you using? I guess that's what you mean by "matching this and that"

The graphics style has to match everything otherwise, it looks odd. (Bar some styles of Tilesets)

I mean like has anyone created something like the original stuff complete with face, sprite, attack animation, so it would be like it in this image of the maker. I dont want to get just a face that wouldnt match the sprites or anything else so has anyone made addons that add a character with everything needed to just add into the game.

Okay, so the type of resources you're looking for are the RTP style (Run Time Package) which is included in the files of the game by default.

Well, there are several ways to tackle this. The problem is that the RTP style isn't really used much these days apart from a select few.

What I would do is, search for "RPG Maker 2003 rtp addon". It comes with a bunch of extra files for the RTP of that specific type.

But as said. RTP styles aren't used any more, and as to that, Enterbrain don't work with the RPG Maker 2003 style graphics any more.

What I WOULD recommend for a person looking for perfect matches with face sets ect., is a program called Face Maker 3.1.

Which you can download here.

Allows you to create the closest to the RTP Style graphic face sets. You can literally customize them to any way you want through a large set of Pre rendered graphics.

Because Face-sets for a specific character are usually hard enough and require a LARGE amount of searching and luck, Face Maker allows you to make a face equal to the sprite (even if they don't match, you can make it.)

As for character sets and battle sets. You need to go to Charas.net's character generator which hosts a large display of separate parts for you to put together to form a character.

Which is here.

And of course, the battle character set generator.

Which is here.

And if you don't like those, then your only real choice is to go for a different graphics style. I recommend you look into a graphics style like First Seed Material.

This website.

It hosts a large set of popular graphics used to RPG Maker 2003 users. I highly recommend you go over there and check out the Face Sets, Map Chips and Character sets there. The sight is Japanese, but I had it translated via Google Translate, (Or Google Chrome does it for you).

(Click of DOWNLOADS and then look to the right of that page. It'll say

Map Chip
Chip Characer
Graphics Face

Click each like respectively and check through them and see if you like the style.)

Well there are many reasons in general. I'll highlight a few though.

1. RTP styles were mainly only meant to be used as a default graphics style. They get boring quickly, and so people only use them if they want to keep the traditional "SNES" style RPG Look. Many people go for a different style, because more people create custom graphics for that particular style, than RTP.

2. The RTP styles make it very hard to blend with objects or a map style of another graphics style. (For example, First Seed Material maps with the RTP style don't particularity fit well, whereas using FSM Charactersets and the FSM Maps, the two blend perfectly.)

3. Many people want their games to be specific in its own way. The RTP is in everyones project when they download it. Thus, everyone has the same select files within the RTP. Whereas if you search for graphics over the internet or something, chances are, your games originality and custom shoots way up there.

4. The RTP style isn't very nice if you want my honest opinion. It's just too bright and saturated to be considered something that isn't what you'd see in a SNES style game. If you want your game to look pretty, you CAN go for a different graphics style. I'm not saying you shouldn't use RTP, but it was just very over used in the past when it first came out, and thus lead to a bad reputation. (Higher chances if you use another graphics style, people will play it. If you use the RTP, they probably would skip it) But don't let it hold you back. You can still produce stunning work with the RTP.

So in a summary the RTP is plainly and REALLY there for beginner developers whom made a game just to see how well RPG Maker 2003 works.

Here is an example of one of my maps that used the FSM Map style;

"

Do you see how the style is completely different graphics wise to the RTP? Branching off the RTP allows larger possibilities, but as I said. Sticking with the RTP is fine, I have seen beautiful works with the RTP, and thus shouldn't be per-judged because of a graphics style.

Yea I want to create a game with the RTP style because I think it looks better. I tried searching for rtp style addons and didnt really get much results I was looking for. Are there any tutorials about setting up a basic world, becuase I would like to do that before I do the real thing.

I found a topic page on another forum which as some RTP edits and recreations, they look surprisingly
nice, actually!
Here

As for tutorials, the best way to learn how to map is searching via google. Look at some mapping samples, download peopes' games who use the RTP and see how they work. Mapping comes from visual intake and samples.
