It's actually a bit like that. I'm just about one hit killing enemies except the ones with high defense, which is what I'm assuming the importance of magic is. I'm thinking the low amount of HP is throwing things off but that's just my opinion. Balancing is always one of the hardest parts in making a game.
It was a short lived playing this time, after the chapel scene I can't go back left; there's an invisible tile blocking the path.
Thank you for your support. How ever it looks like the next version may not be out till Saturday. Its odd how when I play tested the game went through without a hitch. But i have recently backed up some files and seen a few issues in other games i'm developing when you move project folders around. So here's what I am going to do for you guys
Version 0.3.0.6 will be play tested tomorrow and out by Saturday hopefully fixing and balancing all the issues and enemies.

I'm playing War of the Souls now. Whew, the music is awsome! It's from Final Fantary Tactics Advance, I guess? Well, I have some small details to share:
1/The grammar is still not good. 2/I went around the Xechi Town to check hidden Items and I found out that my character can walk under those lumbers in town . 3/The red plag on the roof of the weapon house in Xechi Town is missing! 4/When I shut down Game and open it again, my party members doesn't follow behind my back. Uhm... It's kinda hard to describe, I will update screenshots later about this.
Well, it will take me a little longer to check all of everything. I check very carefully with the Maps, I hope you Ok with it. Right now, I just want to say: Good work!

You obviously didn't read previous posts in this thread, which is fine, how ever note the post on Grammar which is just above. Thanks for the input, again with, read the previous posts, you'll know that 0.3.0.6 is coming out with the week to come (see below) and will have some fixes.
Version 0.3.0.6
Will be the last release of 0.3.0 beta and will include the following fixes:
Passability has been fixed for the most part in all areas I have found to be of issue
Enemy leveling and balancing along with XP reward have been nerfed, boosted and fixed to give a better chance of play.
Classes have been re-balanced to give you a bit of HP (these classes are only the starting classes)
Grammar and spelling have not been touched in this version.
Some other things to note. I have "fired" my play testing team as they have failed to provide proper play testing. With version 0.3.0 I was not expecting so many .x releases to have to be released. So I am taking the liberty of doing it my self, playing through. Currently I am a quarter of the way through the game. I would not expect 0.3.0.6 to be released before the weekend as I have other obligations and school to focus on. How ever you can follow all the changes being made to 0.3.0.6 Beta here.
I hope you guys are looking forward to this new version and I promise to release a more stable less buggy version in the future.
Grammar and Spelling - Again... Since some of you don't read the previous posts or posts at all, which is fine, but it is recommended that you do so The grammar and spelling in the game has, and continue to be, flushed through Word. While it doesn't pick up all the grammatical mistakes, it picks up 80% along with 99.9% of all spelling.
While I appreciate that you guys continue to point out the spelling and grammatical mistakes, I have to state that unless its something so horrible that its preventing you from playing the game or something so horrible that it doesn't give you the proper clues to continuing on through the game, I WILL NOT FOCUS HEAVILY ON IT.
People talk?
NPC's from version 0.3.0.x up are starting to have something to say. some require events to happen before they will say anything, an example of this is in the first pub that you enter after your first battle.
More and More NPC's are starting to have something to say.

Ah, relax . I have read all the posts in this topic and I have known that you don't focus on grammar and not good at it. That is why I didn't mention you need to fix/improve or anything, right?
Right now, I'm still enjoying your game.
Edit: I've posted some screenshots and pointed out something that you need to check. Hope you Ok with this. Seirno has mentioned them before. And I only want to help you to make your project more better.

It seems that people haven't lost interest which is amazing.
Some Notes and Conversations.
Lots of these issues Have been fixed, as I play through the game I see that my old test team has completely and utterly FAILED to spot errors, especially crashing errors and missing graphics. Pass-ability and spelling.
While testing is taking longer then expected I am about 3/4's through the game and fixed a lot of issues with dialogue boxes, ability to leave the inn and even "mapping" issues - such as some pointed out above.
0.3.0.6 may not show a lot on the wiki that's been fixed but if I went through and listed every pass-ability, every missing graphic, music or even some of the obvious spelling issues the wiki would be 100's of pages long.
How this got past me I have no idea, but I can say that I am taking my time with this one and I will be my own test crew from this point on.
I thank you or those screen shots, but alas those issues have been fixed .
Text formatting issue
It seems that even when, in the text box in design view, I state that each line is no more then 5 characters and on its own line, that the game, in play mode, decides it should all be on the same line and off the "page" so to speak.
So this is another issue I am looking into to see what can be done about it. Also you may notice that the game's text is:
"Some text....... "Some more text, some more text, some more text, some text"
That's because I was unsure of the paragraph formatting. It may be changed in RC.
We are getting close to the end
0.3.0 marks the final stage in the series of betas. While there will be four releases, 2 content and 2 bug fix releases 0.3.0 is the final set of betas before RC 1 and 2. 0.3.3 will be the end of the game. all the features will be working and up to date. Some things to look forward to how ever are:
0.3.1 introduces and implements titles.
0.3.0-0.3.3 implements more and more NPC's talking
0.3.0 - RC2 introduces balancing
0.3.1 Introduces the last of the skills
0.3.2 introduces possible paragraph formating fix.
0.3.4 introduces the final cut scenes after the boss fight in 0.3.3 which is a tie in to War of the Souls, Destinies Reach - See Games under Construction.
RC1 and RC2 are releases that go through, balance and fix any issues in the game. they are Versions 0.5 and 0.9 respectively.
Expected release of "Completed" game: April 22nd. (its the end of school so why not)
Why "Completed?":
Because the game will be Version 1.0.0.0 and will climb as high as 1.0.0.0 SP3 (Version 3.0.0.0) At this point, the game will be "unsupported" how ever the source will remain open allowing you to fix any bugs that you find.

I have recently released a forum which you can all go and sign up at and chat about the game, its development and take part in the development of the game. This forum is where early releases (nightly) builds will be released.
I released the forum to allow people to go and chat about the game, to experience the game as it grows and see that it is really alive and ever changing. I may be a student and a full time worker along with having a life but I do take my occasional Sundays and Saturdays to pour everything I have into the game.
Serious Bug
I am looking for some one to read this thread and tell me if they are able to fix the issue. Basically the creator of the talent tree script wont help me fix the compatibility between his script and the script posted in there because apparently I have not thanked him for the use of his script (people please read the credits. Until version 0.3.1 those are the "concrete" scripts. Version 0.3.1 Beta 1 is a feature freeze where all credits are given.)
With that said if you the scripter, whom ever you are, helps me fix this issue you will be placed in the "Special thanks" section of the this thread which basically means i hold you and any one else who helps me fix these serious issues, above all the rest in terms of thanking you for making War of the Souls a success.

Due to the serious bug above, which is not a crashing bug, if I cannot get a scripter by the end of this week (coming up) I will remove the XP script from this game and the talent tree from the next War of the Souls game.
Currently Leveling does not give you any talent points.
I have 3/4's way through of my first round of testing for version 0.3.0.6 Beta and have fixed numerous pass-ability, music, scripting, lighting and other types of bugs. I will be playing through one more time after this in order to make sure I got everything the first go around.
I thank you guys for your patience and hoe you can hold on another week (or two at max).
The game is on hold for another week (or two) instead of being released today like planned because of this bug and because i have not finished play testing my way through everything. Version 0.3.0.6 Beta may have the EXP script removed - which means all enemies XP will be re-balanced.

Version 0.3.1 Is announced and should be ready for download by the end of the reading week coming up. This is a feature freeze version so all credits will be given for all concrete scripts that are being kept in the game. Titles Officially introduced
Titles are a way of players unlocking new content and features along with items and other things. There are currently three title in War of the Souls. - Over all Rep which is gained from participating in Guild battles - Has a maximum of one level with a reward of 5000 gold. - Sagratiua Guild Rep - Gained from following the story, Has a maximum of one level with no reward - Hidden items - gained from finding hidden items in the game, has a maximum of 3 levels with a reward of 150 XP per level and a rare skill for Trimithe after the third.
Titles are an experiment for this game while in War of the Souls, Destinies Reach they are used more often with better explanation of how to use them, They can be accessed through the main menu.
Two Epic Scenes
Version 0.3.1 Beta 1 will introduce the games two most epic scenes that will use real music with real lyrics. The scenes will be the length of the songs and will be as dramatic as the songs them selves. The first song is Enchanted by Taylor swift which is played during the full length wedding of Kayla and Andrex and the Second if the Harold Song by Kesha played during the attempted suicide of Trimithe.
Both of theses scenes will be about 3-4 minutes, the game is expected to be about 100mb's after adding both these songs as they are mp3s.
These scenes will take a dramatic turn of events in the game and will be the longest yet. so all you will have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy your self while you watch the story unfold.
More Story and Maps
This version will focus more on cut scenes to explain whats happening in the past and the present. It will also feature two very epic scenes with lost of new maps and places to explore. The cut scene percentage in this version is 60%. You learn why anna called the first, what magic has to do with anything, how the four heroes of light caused the first to be present and what annas role in all of this is aside from summoning the "agents of the first."
You will also get to battle the Shadow mages council as a boss battle and face the first when Trimithe attempts suicide to be with Alexious. You will also experience love, loss, pain and sacrifice as the games climax reaches its highest peek.
Anna Explained
With in the new version, 60% of it is covered with cut scenes and back story. 30% of those cut scenes is all Anna and how she plays a role. as we learn early on its magic that takes her from the party and sends Trimithe and the rest of the guild on a wild search before before being side tracked. The entire journey is to get to the city, to save her and to be with Alexious. How ever when he dies that throws all hope out the window for Trimithe until he learns what role Anna really has to play with in the story.

Well I am back. War of the souls is being worked on slowly. I noticed the last time I had issues other sections of the form were not too eager or too quick to help me. While a lot of links in this thread are dead and no longer exist due to changes in hosting and what not – I am working on changing that slowly.
I cannot say that I will be working on the game at top speed as I have a lot of other work to be working on my self such as finding a job, web design work and trying to live something of a life.

War of the Souls, version 0.3.1 War of the Souls has come into some issues with XP distribution, talent point distribution on level up and so much more as scripts start to cause incompatibilities and even more issues with grammatical issues and spelling and all that.
0.3.1 will offer new fixes as scripts are stripped and enemies are rebalanced and more. Those who have played before will understand that this game has come along way from nothing to something.
0.3.1 will also contain new features, new scenes and more – Like I said I will not be working on this every day for long hours like previous versions and as a lot of links in this thread are dead people will have to use this thread to get the latest updates which will be enclosed in spoilers.
War of the Souls, Destinies Reach
This thread is in the Games under construction form. While buried some where in the form the thread sits empty and dead I am also planning to work on that as well. “Whats this have to do with this game?” This game is the prequel to what happens next which happens many moons and generations after this game. It also uses a lot of the same scripts and is ironically more stable then this game – so I bounce idea off both games to make this one more stable.
Music, Music, Music
music is changing slowly. In version 0.3.1 two songs with actual words are used to describe both the wedding and the suicide attempt. These are suppose to be the longest scenes yet with up to 3-4 minutes each. Version 0.3.1 will introduce new areas to explore but will be HEAVILY scene oriented to explain a lot of the back story and how a lot of what has come to happen has come to pass. Music will also play a large role in this as we switch from Final Fantasy Tactics to Final Fantasy 12 music.
Epic Scenes
there are two massive scenes in this game the wedding and the suicide attempt. There are multiple other shorter scenes that describe past events that brought us to where we are today in the game. As stated before 0.3.1 is very heavily scene oriented and will be bigger then 100mbs in sie due to music and new maps and events.
Expected Size
this version is expected to be under 120 mbs in size. It may (or may not) be divided into two parts to help with the download.
Why so big?
Music – two full length mp3 songs, Maps – expected to be 30 new maps Events - Expected to be 25 new events (with two lasting 3-4 minutes

Sometime in late July or early august

You should really credit all of the artists who helped you with this game. I wouldn't just credit the scripters, artists deserve the recognition for all they do for you, especially when it's done for free and out of the kindness of their hearts.
I don't remember who made the logo nor do I take credit for it. On that note I do not know who made every individual sprite, tile set (as they are all pieced together from various tiles) Its actually funny that you (with the exception of the logo) bring that up as I don't see any one else crediting the illustrators of the sprites, tile sets, fogs, images, ect. Just the scripts and those who helped them.
How ever if the one who created my logo would speak up I would have a name to use to thank. On that note - Credit will be given for the two full length songs used in the game as they are not my songs. (well none of the music is mine but we all know that).

I am Looking! for a spelling and grammar checker to download the latest version of the game here using of course either tortuous hg or some other compatible subversion check out system (just pm me and Ill add you to the list of people allowed to check out the game) - go through fix all spelling and grammar, re-upload and tell me to pull. I use word for this game but we all know word cannot catch everything.
I have chosen the official songs for the wedding: Fearless by Taylor swift and The Herold Song by Kesha for the Attempted Suicide. (Credit is given to the artists of the song, the song writers, the producers, the markers and any one responsible for the songs existence. I own both pieces of music - this game is barred from being sold).
In terms of the game I have added:
XP has been increased to help you level.
Players Levels (starting players) have been reduced.
Talent issue upon leveling has been fixed.
Emith - The town - now has party switching - Apparently it didn't before?
Some guild members have been switched out in guild battles.
Gold out put has been increased across the board on all enemies.
Completing pieces of the story now give you reward points in one of your titles.
These are minor fixes that are making 0.3.1 a strong and better game. There are glitches along the way that don't really affect game play but are being fixed as we speak. Thee issues are of lighting, transition and lighting and detailing.
On that note I am looking for feedback based on content here, based on game play and based on the screen shots.

Honestly I find it appalling and shameful that you would forget. You should never forget the person that did a favor for you. Just because other people don't credit doesn't mean that you can't. It's a good way to start building up credit as a reputable RMer.
