Short Story Romance Thing, Just a quick question. Options

I've recently decided to write a short story that is sort of a romance,
the thing is, I was wondering if there is anything I should look out for?
Since the main character of this story is a Female and I've never written from a female's perspective before
I was wondering if there was anything I should or shouldn't do.

Any cliches I should look out for etc.?

I think he was asking because Aries is a personality type (he's making a judgement, so ignore that).
As far as having a girl to actually talk to, I'd highly recommend that. ^^
I mean, us girls know ourselves best, and really don't like it when guys talk about us without at least trying to understand - even if they won't, don't, or (supposedly) can't...

Things you should not write (as a guy) about a girl, unless you're writing for guys only:
- Any form of demeaning a girl versus a guy, or making the comparison very often.
- Don't attempt to write the emotions for a girl unless you've asked various girls how they would feel during certain situations. (We don't like when guys tell us how we feel when they clearly don't know.)
- Your female characters should be expressive with their emotions, just like in reality, unless they are trying to hide those emotions - in which case you should explain that they are hiding them (for example, holding back tears of joy/sadness, or biting their tongue to keep from saying something, etc.).
- Don't assume a girl would want something unless it's something that makes sense to the story and to the character; you need to develop the female characters based on something remotely real, so ask various girls for their input on the personality traits of your character(s).

I say "various girls" because we are all different on the inside, even if we are all female on the outside, however we do share many qualities that will be obvious if you ask enough of us. =]
Still, I think if you are writing a romance, you need to make it more realistic instead of: "My dude character is so boss that he totally has girls fawning all over him" and such... Those are pretty much just a guy's dream/fantasy and not even close to reality.
So be cautious of that in writing, unless of course you are writing for a bunch of guys that have similar fantasies (because if you are writing for those guys, then such a romance story would be successful).

Quickly getting it out there that even if you don't have a girl friend, there's lots of people you can ask here.
I could offer some input from experience but i'm not actually a girl lol.
