Blue Mercury Animation added, take a look in the Videos tab. Episode 1 of VERGO Tale of Rings is just about complete! Look for it out sometime in May.

Ok people, Tale of Rings Episode 1 is almost complete. We are beginning voice acting right now. Those of you who asked me about it will receive a PDF file with all the characters and their lines. If you'd like to still help with this let us know please. You can look for this episode to be completed in probably a month. We've taken the download away because it's super old so don't worry it will be back up soon.

Huh... I'm working on the voice acting BUT it's coming along slower than expected because hardly anyone was interested. I'm finishing up a few details here and there and will release a full Episode 1 game very soon (without voice acting sad.gif )

Episode 2 is in production and I've switched to parallax mapping (YAY!!) The visuals and things will look much nicer in E2.

I wanted to give you all and update: the battle system is stellar and I've basically rewritten the core of Yggdrasil with a complete AI and the ability to have party members in combat. It's been a long road and LOTS of programming but I'm pretty excited to release the game. This will feature the player moving his saved game file from one episode to the other at certain periods (to revisit areas). The same world map encompasses both episodes.

Oh, and there are 62 states in this game (states as in poison, burn, frozen blah blah). Many are good states though. That's just an LOL for ya.

Oooookay, I haven't forgotten about this game so don't worry about that. I was about to release Episode 1 of Tale of Rings but I couldn't stand the story line so I scrapped the whole thing LOL!! I've revamped the story, the game's getting a new title, and I'm redoing all the maps so needless to say it's set the game back months. The battle system is going to blow your mind though so don't forget about this game. The new title is going to be VERGO The Jade Ring.

Nicely done.

You effort to have shadows on a forest is bit of a overkill. Still rather nice looking maps. Especially outdoors.

Hm... really?? Maybe I should just dim the map instead of the texture. It doesn't look the same with normal lighting.

You could also try parallaxing the Shadows also, that is always effective, combining that with some decent tints. It'll look amazing smile.gif

The shadows are parallaxed. The shadows from the actual trees are parallaxed. Yeah I think I'll try just dimming the forest maps without using the overlay texture.

I do like what you did with the forest shadows, adds a nice effect, the problem I see is that in the screen shots I had really no idea what was going on in the battles. This could be a problem. If you can find a way to make the battles and such noticeable, then you have a winner in my opinion.

Also I like that little red haired witch, she was cute wink.gif

Haha!! The blue one is in the house stirring the cauldron LOL! I've actually been working on the animation opacity in the battles as it can be a bit much sometimes so yeah I'm gonna fix that hopefully.

Update: New screenshots have been added for your viewing pleasure and an 8 minute video has been uploaded of some of the first chapter gameplay. Also check out the features section because I added a couple new battle system features.

For a download: I'm very close to a demo, however, I'm not releasing one until it's good and ready.
