Remembering a name. Options

Hello, at the start of my game you can set your own name. Later in the game one of the side characters tells you about his history, and you 'flashback' to about 3 weeks ago. For this I removed the main character from the party and added the side character as the main. After the flashback is finished I remove the side character and re-add the main to the party, but after this is done, the custom name reverts to the original. How do I stop this from happening?

Is there a way to record what the custom name is, then set the name to it using variables? I'm a noob with this sort of stuff, please help!

The easiest way would certainly be to not reset the main character to their initial state when you add them to the party again. Just uncheck the box when adding a character you already used before.
