2. Information! In order to make a better evented system, you have to provide us of enough information about it!

A simple system that allows the player to run faster by pressing the "A" button, plus a stamina system
and a stamina bar.
Omegas7 Simple Swimming Sytem.
A simple system for swimming, remember that the water has to be passageable, not very recommended, maybe a script will be better.
Omegas7 Simple Lantern System.
This simple system allows you to make use of a lantern in dark caves pressing the "A" button.
Omegas7 Mining System.
A simple mining system, it includes a mining progress bar.
Omegas7 Basic Points System.
Requested by someone (will put his name later).
A system upgrading your parameters by exchanging points obtained from trainings, a training arena like system.
Omegas7 Evented Bank System.rar
A bank system.
Just copy the bank event in the demo and paste it in your game.
Omegas7 Platform System.
A simple platform system, requested by Kolid.
Allows simple things like moving on a boat.

Hmm interesting.
I'm totally useless at scripting so I rely alot on events to help me out.
So not to brag but I guess I could say I'm quite good at it.
So perhaps I could help you out in making some eventy type systems sometimes?

I have a request for you my good friend. I want the player to have an item called the lantern. They'll have lantern fluid as well. Lets say they go into a cave. It's dark so they whip out there lantern and then they have light. But they lose lantern oil over a period of time. I have tried as hard as I can but to no avail. Can you help me?

I've checked out some of your events and found them "too" easy...But helping out the community is fun...so yeah...id like to join

Some systems I've made are:

Banking/Loaning/Interest Rates- Where You can withdraw,deposit,loan, pay back debts, open accoutns, use atms, and loans increase over time as well as do bank account funds.

Actor Unlocking System

Jumping System

Smithing/Smelting/Mining System

Etc.

Some Improvements would be making the Lantern Also Acessible by the Menu. In te bigging fade...change the event to parallel process...uncheck wait...and make it fade to it in 1 frame. And when the lantern runs out of oil..Make it a parallel process as well so u dont have to wait while the light is dimming...just my two cents

I appreciate the time you put into but this isn't working.
I should've been more specific. Heres what I need
Player walks into cave. Opens menu and uses lantern that has a common event. Then it will go through a process of subtracting the variable"lantern oil" and when the variable hits zero the lantern dies. I'm sorry to be such a pain. Thanks man

EDIT:

I see... So you want the lantern to activate through the menu instead of pressing A?
And the lantern to disappear when the oil is gone?

Ok, I will make it the changes.

ANOTHER EDIT:

Umm... You said that the oil would be substracted only that...
No light effect or something like that?

Set a variable to say 25
When you use lantern call a common
Make a loop
Inside the loop do this

@Conditional Variable (Oil) = 1 or more
@Tint screen or add light or do whatever you're doing for light
@Wait (say 2000 frames) *two 999 wait commands
@Subtract 1 from (Oil)
@Wait 10 frames or something.
@Else
@Text "We need oil" etc etc
@(Loop) however it looks

I'm just taking a guess at that being how it looks.
I dont have VX right now so I cant test it. Try it out. Just a theory XD

I have one for you,
[Show/Hide] Jade Elegy Spoilers
Later on in the game, you get these flippers that let you swim in shallow water. Your character graphic changes when you're swimming(To a custom swimming graphic still in production, I guess you can use a boat as a replacement), and you can only dock on specific edges(We'll use those log-raft type things for the example, I guess)


I have a feeling it'll require scripts, but there's my new request x.x

You mean thats the duration time of the lantern?

Why in a loop anyways?

YEah XD not the greatest at explaining things.

Wait 2000 frames

You cant wait 2000 frames in one wait event so you have to use two with a wait value of 999
That would be the duration of 1/25 of the lanterns fuel.

Its in a loop so that it rechecks the conditional every 2000 frames (1998 frames) to see if there is any more "Oil left"
Im a decent eventer just not great at eventing outside of VX itself lol (like I did here) and explaining why I did things XD sorry!

Well yeah it will so a conditional branch to see how much oil you have. If you have above 1 it will light up or show a pic which I plan on doing. Parralell process will work. Just make sure it keeps checking if the player has avove 1 and every lets say 500 frames it subtracts one. Then when you hit zero you lose the light
